Hi, everyone, I vote yes too, for having a round robin and everyone introducing themselves. I am also on the Lovelace list and we just did that and alot of us found alot of other researchers that were searching our family. Angela Lovelace Hallman
I will place a vote for yes Howard Hallman
Here's a YES too! Sounds like a great idea. Especially since I am kind of new to the list. Nancy Hallman Cason

Faith: I think it would be appropriate to "re-introduce" ourselves once again to all persons on the list. It's always interesting and informative and worthwhile. Dick Hallman
Here's my "yes" vote...and my input. Congratulations on the first anniversary! I think I joined you soon after you began this adventure, trying to find a family for my Gx2 Grandmother, Hannah Hallman, who married Mahlon Barlow. You may recall that it took several months, but such excitement to finally nail it down! And so, here are my nine generations: Anthony Hallman 1671-1759 --> Henry Hallman 1716-1803 (m. Anna Marie Berson) --> Abraham Hallman 1767-1838 --> Abraham Hallman 1803-1853 --> Hannah Hallman 1828-1903 (m. Mahlon Barlow) --> John Franklin Barlow 1849-1910 --> George Ralston Barlow 1871-1933 --> Mary Elizabeth Barlow b.1908-still living and alert! (m. Ervin R. Spunaugle) --> me, Elaine Spunaugle Jeter, b.1934. That gets you from Anthony to me. From Anthony Hallman to John Franklin Barlow, all lived in Montgomery County, PA. John Franklin Barlow moved to Black Hawk County, Iowa in about 1875; George Ralston Barlow moved to Des Moines, Iowa in about 1905, where Mary Elizabeth Barlow was born. I was born in Clarinda, Page County, Iowa, though now I live in Poway, California, a suburb of San Diego. As for something about me--I am retired -- well, sort of. I don't work for a living anyhow. Just manage my "capital" so you might say I am a capitalist. I even write stock evaluations for a broker--Buy,Hold,Sell etc. I was a librarian (U.Kans, U.Kans.Med.Ctr., U.Cal.S.D.) for a time, and one of my volunteer jobs is a weekly 4-hour stint at the reference desk of the local library. I think of it as a game called "stump the librarian". I like music, history, bridge, and now and then I produce a TV show for public-access viewing. That makes me a TV producer, too. Another hobby is running various equipment in the TV studio with the group that I belong to that makes public access programs. (I know how to run all of it.) Maybe sometime I'll do a show about genealogy. Do you have suggestions? Like how I discovered I am a 5th cousin 4 times removed to General George Armstrong Custer. Hey, neat, huh? Not the most successful, but certainly the most FAMOUS Army officer of his era. :-) I have two grown sons and two grandchildren. My older son is a computer engineer (which comes in handy)--he lives in San Diego. My younger son is a US Navy Lt. Cmdr. He is currently stationed in Newport, RI and is doing liaison between our Navy and NATO, which means many trips to Brussels. I have been widowed twice; life goes on. We'll try to look on the bright side of things. So now you know a whole lot more about me than you probably wanted to know. Cousin Elaine <ejeter@concentric.net> Voice=858.485.0694; Fax=858.485.7908

Hi, all Hallmans! Linda asked me today if we were going to have anything for our First Anniversary celebration. To tell the truth, in the turmoil of moving, settling in, and my brother, his wife & two teenaged grandchildren arriving here in Arizona this week, I had sort of forgotten about our Anniversary. I think we do need to celebrate in some way. Would you like to have another "Get Acquainted Week(s)?" We have quite a few new subscribers since our last one. It would be a good way to *bring our Hallman group together.* I found our last "Get Acquainted Weeks" very interesting. What we have done in the past in these weeks is write a message to the List telling a little bit about ourselves, our family, what type of employment we're in, or retired from, hobbies, where we live (without giving specifics), & some added a short Hallman lineage. We are such a diverse group! Let's have some input. Yay or Nay?? Write me, or write the Hallman-L List with your vote. I'd like a good percentage of participants in this. Thanks, to a great team! In answer to Edie's question: The correspondence I had re: John Hallman's bible was through e-mail. However, I do have this lady's snail mail address, and if the e-mail I sent her today bounces, I'll write to her at her Georgia (state) address. Faith << A correspondence I had with a descendent of John Hallman, the disinherited son of Anthony Hallman. This is another correspondence that I had before our Hallman list started. >> Though received by correspondence which means one more transcription, this would seem like primary-source-documented additional information (additional children in the family group) and thus valuable! Was this snail mail correspondence with a mailing address?

Hi. This is in answer to Ramsey, who was asking about Summerows. My Hallman ancestors settled in Lincoln Co. North Carolina after migrating from Pennsylvania. What is interesting is that my Hallmans married into the Summerow family in NORTH Carolina and yours are from SOUTH Carolina. I have a book written in 1903 which outlines the family connection in NC. Seems a Henry Summerow came to Lincoln Co. from Burke Co. (NC) "about the close of the American Revolution." What are the dates on your Henry Summerow in SC? Could this be an earlier generation? This Henry married an Elizabeth Whitener on 8 Oct 1784 in Lincoln Co. They had 11 children, one of whom was Jacob Summerow - two of his children married into the Hallman family. By the way, do you have a date or place of birth of your Jacob Hallman who married Margaret Sumerro? If you see a connection, I will be glad to send you what I have. The book written in 1903 is "The Finger Family of Lincoln County, N.C. with a Brief Sketch of Saint Matthews Church" by A. Nixon, 1903. It is full of information about early families in Lincoln Co. It was given to me by a family member who lives in Lincoln Co. If I can help, let me know. Nancy Cason Garland, Texas
Hello, Hallman's, A correspondence I had with a descendent of John Hallman, the disinherited son of Anthony Hallman. This is another correspondence that I had before our Hallman list started. "I own a family bible given to me by my father, belonging to a John Hallman (born Sept. 14, 1761 in Montgomery Co., PA). In the pages provided near the end of the bible are writings about family members, their birth, deaths, marriages, etc. The Hallman family listed on this website (Faith's website) has at least in names, county, and state, era the same people in the family bible I have. There's John and Mary Hallman (borne 1760's). Their children (borne 1780's) Barbara, Sarah, Mary, Ana Maria, Marie, Sarah, Mary, Elisabeth Jenet, Anthony, John (borne 1793). The handwriting is extremely ornate and hard to read. Could these be the same Hallman's?" I wrote to this correspondent listing the names of John's (son of Anthony) and Anna Marie's six children, Anthony, married to Sarah Thomas, Anna Catharine, married to Mattias Tyson, Elizabeth, John, Maria, Paul. I also mentioned that John (of Anthony) purchased a farm of Mary Norris in 1736, of 172 acres in Worchester Township. In 1763 he sold this farm to his nephew, Leonard Berkheimer, and purchased a mill in Gwynedd township. He also followed the trade of blacksmith. He was a contributor to the salary of pastor Muhlenberg in 1760. (Muhlenberg was pastor of the Augustus Lutheran church in Trappe, PA during that time period.) Her reply: "I would not have a problem xeroxing the pages from the bible, except that it's HUGE! I would also be afraid of the pages disintegrating. It's very old and except for the new (1960's) leather binding and some pages my father had replace on/in it. "Let me try again. A lot is hard to read due to the ornate handwriting.. Author, John HALLMAN, Born September 14, 1761. Born in Wi____-Township, Montgomery Co., PA Father: Anthony HALLMAN Mother: Saley THOMAS (does not remotely look like Sarah) (Faith's note: In the past, Sarah was often called Sally.) As a mother of small children, I expect she didn't have the time. Very little is known about Anthony's son, John's, descendents, so this was interesting to me. Hope someone might find some useful information in this. Faith Hutchings faith@verdenet.com
Hello, Hallmans, I have been going back over some messages I received from Hallman descendants before our Hallman List was started & discovered some interesting data. One message from a Hallman, whose ancestors migrated from Montgomery Co., PA to North Carolina. Her lineage is as follows: 1 - Anthony HALLMAN (1671-1759) 2 - Heinrich (Henry) HALLMAN (1716-1803) Skippack, PA 3 - Henry or Anthony (both of these brothers had sons named Daniel, and both left PA for NC). 4 - Daniel HALLMAN (md. 1818?) Lincoln Co., NC 5 - Ambrose Hinkle HALLMAN (1819-1905) Catawba Co., NC + Margaret HENRY 6 - Daniel Anthony HALLMAN (1845-1911) + Easter Rebecca STROUP 7 - Daniel Arthur HALLMAN (1882-1945) + Donnie Carloyn GOINS Gaston Co., NC 8 - Ozell Arthur HALLMAN (1915-1997) Gaston Co., NC Looks like there could be many Hallmans in North Carolina that are descended from Anthony Hallman.
