Norene, I have Issac F. Hallman family bible. His second wife was my great grandmother (her second marriage also). Since I'm not a direct Hallman descendant, I haven't done any research into the family but have subscribed to this list because I know that this bible can be a help. Here is what is in the bible: Issace F. Hallman (b. 6/27/1845, d ?) m. Hannah Elizabeth Emery (b. 7/16/1850, d. 6/28/1882) on 7/15/1869. They had 3 children, John Emery Hallman (b. 1/20/1870), Abram David Hallman (b. 11/25/1871), and Henry Harrison Hallman (b. 6/2/1878). I have no more info on the children but there is much written about Issac's family (he had 13 siblings) and a little on Hannah Emery's family. Let me know if you are interested. I don't have the info writen on paper, but I can go to the bible and get it. Norene is a new member. Her query didn't get to our list so I copied and pasted it for our list members. Does someone have information you can give to Norene? Faith Hutchings Your List Hostess faith@verdenet.com Interested in any info on John Emery Hallman born 1/20/1810 in Spring City, PA, died 1/29/1930. He married Elizabeth Larkins. His parents were Issac F.& hannah E. Hallman. Isaac was born 6/21/1845 and died 2/25/1889.
Greetings Hallman Family, I am new to the Hallman group, but not new to genealogy. I have been at this since 1989 and have made a lot of progress on a lot of lines. I got slowed down a little going backwards so I added a generation the other way last year, and now have a beautiful little red haired girl named Maggie (McGinnis is her real name.) (My grandmother Hallman married a McGinnis.) I grew up in Bucks County, PA (right next to Montgomery Co.) and left before I knew of the rich Hallman heritage there. I went to Northwestern University and Virginia Tech and took a job at IBM here in upstate, NY. Lockheed Martin bought our division a few years ago, so that's where I work now (part time as a new mom.) My interests are everything about the Appalachian Mountains. I love to snowboard, ski, mountain bike and hike on them and cave under them. I also like quilting and Appalachian folk music and the folks of the Appalachians. Mountains make my spirits soar! I have noted my lineage here. I would love to hook up with those researching the North Carolina Hallmans. I have "published" one book on my Hallman line. It is available at the Mormon library in Utah (and via microfilm there), and I hope to send copies to a few appropriate county libraries. It is titled "The Story of Ozell Arthur Hallman McGinnis" and has family stories as well as genealogy and all the photos I had of ancestors, church sites, etc. It was self published in 1998. About 450 pages. My grandmother is: Ozell Arthur Hallman (1915-1997) Gaston Co., (married to Russell McGinnis, living), NC daughter of: Daniel Arthur Hallman (1882-1945) and Donnie Goins, Gaston Co, NC, son of Daniel Anthony Hallman (1845-1911) and Easter Stroup Gaston Co., NC, son of Ambrose Hinkle Hallman and Margaret Henry (he 1819-1905) Catawba Co., NC, son of Daniel Hallman and Sally Cline (he about 1796-1818, Lincoln Co., NC), son of *Anthony Hallman and Elizabeth. Gingery (he about 1775-1883), Rowan Co., NC, son of Henry Hallman and Elizabeth (he 1745-) Montgomery Co., PA, son of Heinrich Hallman and Anna Maria (he 1716-1803), Philadelphia, PA, son of Anthony Heilman and Mary Salome (he 1671-1759), Philadelphia, PA *The "loose link" here is that Henry Hallman (1745) had two sons: Henry and Anthony. Both of these men had sons named Daniel about the same time and place, so it is not clear whether my Daniel is son of Anthony or Henry. My Daniel Hallman (about 1796) is definitely the grandson of Henry Hallman (1745), just can't yet definitively prove his father. Best estimate is it is Anthony (1775). I have noted that there were Hallmans in York Co., PA in the late 1700's and need to see if there is a connection there. I look forward to searching with all of you. Cassandra Vaughn
Hi, all, I copied the paragraphs below from the BRETHREN rootsweb mail list. I thought it might of interest to some on our list. Faith Hutchings Emmert Bittinger shared the news of his forthcoming articles in the Mennonite Family History, and in doing so, mentioned Holman's Creek in Shenandoah County VA. Joseph Floyd Wine published "Life Along Holman's Creek, in 1982, and may be a valuable reference for Brethren and others from the Holman's Creek area. I don't recall its being mentioned on this list before. For example, Wine shows photographs of the following houses: Samuel Myers House(dating from 1760) Peter Gartner (probably) log house, in the last half of the 18th century Isaac Myers House Showalter House Harpine House Peter Myers House (birthplace of the author) Andrew Zirkle House (built about 1750) Michael Zirkle House (before 1756) According to the author, his book "is an outgrowth and enlargement of research began in 1976 when the author was requested by the Flat Rock Church of the Brethren -- in its Bicentennial Emphasis -- to address the subject 'The German Baptist Tunker Brethren On Holman's Creek' ". In this publication Wine goes further to discuss other religious communions and other families, with much of his research from "The Shenandoah Valley", a weekly publication from 1869-1924. Wine does not give detailed genealogies, but does mention a number of families that probably discussed on this list including (from the index), Baker, Baughman, Biller, Bollinger, Bower, Bowers, Bowman, Branner, Burkett, Coffman, Dellinger, Early, Flory, Foltz, Funk, Funkhouser, Garber, Gartner, Getz, Golladay, Harpine, Hendrix, Kieffer, Knupp, Long, Miller, Moore, Myers, Neff, Pence, Roush, Showalter, Whistler, Whitmire, Will, Williams, Wine, Wolfe, Zigler, Zirkle, and many, many others. Joseph Floyd Wine's Book, "Life Along Holman's Creek" may be a valuable reference for family historians seeking their families in that area of Shenandoah County, in the latter half of the 19th century and the first part of the 20th century. I trust that it might be available through interlibrary loan; I do not know of its present availability from bookstores, but Amazon.com lists it as out of print. Unfortunately, I am not able to respond for lookups, or I'd not be able to do anything else for a few weeks.
Hello All, My name is Clark Hallman. I live in Franconia Twp. Pa., near Skippack. I operate a business called Hallman's Creamery. Genealogy-wise I have traced my roots on many branches, most much farther than the Hallman line. I do not think there is a connection between Anthony Hallman and myself, even though I live near Skippack. There were Hallmans in this area before Anthony emigrated from Germany in 1710. Most of them are of Swedish descent. I have been in contact with some Hallmans from Sweden and Finland through business, (I do not have a definite link there either). They tell me the Hallman name went from Sweden to the palatinate region in the early 1200's during the Swedish conquest of Europe. My further historical research corroborates this. My furthest definite Hallman link is as follows: Israel Hallman b. 5/17/1828 m. Maria A Schmidt b. 12/22/1834 Jesse Hallman 10/20/1855 m. Susan Shelly b. 3/14/1858 Henry S. Hallman b. 8/11/1883 m. Emma L. Heller b. 10/30/1881 Lester C. Hallman b. 6/24/1902 m. Marian A. Kidd b. 2/13/1910 Lester C. Hallman Jr. b. 12/5/1931 m Joan Keller b 10/11/1935 Clark Hallman 9/18/55 (me) m. Sheryl A. Clancey b. (she does not let divulge the date) Israel and Jesse Hallman, as well as their wives are buried at the East Swamp Mennonite Church in Milford Twp., Bucks County Pa., just outside of Quakertown.

Bob is also an elder and Bible teacher in our church, and we enjoy being with our church family. We have an RV and like to take trips to do genealogy research, and also visit other historical sites. We have followed the Oregon Trail through Nebraska and Wyoming, and last year visited several Civil War battlefields. I enjoy hearing from others researching the North Carolina Hallmans. Hello, Cuz!!!! I'm glad to hear from you. Would you consider sending your complete line? I have nothing on any of the Hallmans except for David Franklin Hallman's line (Will, Lee, and Barbara (I have Maggie, which must be wrong) brother which is my line). I'd love to fill in your line, too. I'll gladly send you what I have on David Franklin's line. In case you are interested and don't already know, Margaret Elizabeth Summerrow's parents are Henry Summerrow and Barbara Henry. Henry's parents were Michael Summerour and Catherine Cline. If you don't already have this info on Margaret Elizabeth Summerrow, let me know and I'll send you the Summerrow line. I did not do the research on the Summerrow's, someone gave it to me, but I'll gladly share it if you're interested. I'd love for you to ask your grandmother if she knows anything about Lee's line, or Will's line, anything more about my line, or anything about Jacob's parents (your ggg-grandfather). I've hit a brick wall with Jacob. Also, if you'd consider sending the cemetary info you have, I'd really appreciate that, too. My mother lives in north Louisiana and I've been trying to get her to go to Ben Lomond and walk the cemetary. Since she's 77, I've had little luck talking her into that. And since I'm in California, it's not an option for me right now. Thanks for what you've already sent.
