    1. Re: What we ALL want!
    2. Faith Hutchings
    3. Hi. All, I couldn't resist copying this from another list, too. It is so apropos!! Faith This tidbit is from Gayle Zavesky & Billye D. Jackson "I WANT" I want ancestors with names like Rudimentary Montagnard or Melchizenick von Steubenhoffmannschild or Spetznatz Giafortoni, not William Brown or John Hunter or Mary Abbott. I want ancestors who could read and write, had their children baptized in recognized houses of worship, went to school, purchased land, left detailed wills (naming a huge extended family as legatees), had their photographs taken once a year -- subsequently putting said pictures in elaborate isinglass frames annotated with calligraphic inscriptions, and carved voluble and informative inscriptions in their headstones. I want relatives who managed to bury their predecessors in established, still-extant (and indexed) cemeteries. I want family members who wrote memoirs, who enlisted in the military as officers and who served in strategically important (and well documented) skirmishes. I want relatives who served as councilmen, schoolteachers, county clerks and town historians. I want relatives who `religiously' wrote in the family Bible, journaling every little event and detailing the familial relationship of every visitor. In the case of immigrant progenitors, I want them to have arrived only in those years wherein passenger lists were indexed by National Archives, and I want them to have applied for citizenship, and to have done so only in those jurisdictions which have since established indices. I want relatives who were patriotic and clubby, who joined every patrimonial society they could find, who kept diaries, and listed all their addresses, who had paintings made of their houses, and who dated every piece of paper they touched. I want forebears who were wealthy enough to afford, and to keep for generations, the tribal homestead, and who left all the aforementioned pictures and diaries and journals intact in the library. But most of all, I want relatives I can FIND!!!

    3. To all, I received another happy99 attachment today, from a different person this time. It is a prolific WORM! I deleted it and notified the sender, as the person who sends it does not even know it is going out with their message. It always come through as an additional message (twin) with the same subject line on it, but when you click on the paperclip it will then read "happy99.exe." That will be the signal for you to delete it IMMEDIATELY. You won't have to worry about receiving it from this list, though, as Rootsweb does not forward any attachments to the lists. 2. Vera Gates Hutchings
    3. Hi All, Faith called me this morning and asked me to tell all of you that her computer has been infected with the "happy 99" virus she warned us about, consequently she will NOT be corresponding with anyone until she can get it cleared out. Please DON'T send her any e-mail until it is cleared up. And, of course, instantly delete any attachment with "happy99.exe or happy.exe) no matter who it comes from, this appears to be wide-spread. The virus had come to her in the same batch of mail which contained the warning, but she opened the attachment before she had read the warning. Glad the tip to Ed Hagerty was helpful.... hope he gets his questions answered. 1. William E. Hallman
    2. Edward Hagerty
    3. I wanted to thank Vera Gates Hutchings for the lead she provided. It gave me a name, William E. Hallman, not just Billy Hallman and the name of the silent film he was in. I contacted the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in LA, but they had only that he was in the film and nothing else, but then the librarian there suggested I get in touch with the Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, NYC. They have a file on both William E. Hallman and on my Grand-aunt Myra Donnelly. I don't know yet if William E. Hallman is the Hallman she married, but knowing there is something on file about both of them, makes Vera's lead worth it's weight in gold. In genealogy, you never know which suggestion or lead, no matter how big or small will pan out into something big. At the same time, I take caution that the lead may not give me much to go on in the end, but a lead is a lead. Ed Hagerty

    3. Hi, all, We have a couple "Would like to finds" now. We still need a "B" for a given name beginning. Ken Thompson has posted his query on the given name of Anna Christina's (daug. of Anthony) husband, Mr. Lefeber. Doris Wegner has asked for information on Henry's (Hallman) first wife, Anna Marie, or information on their great-grandson, Anthony, and his wife, Jane Conrad. Are you finding anything yet? Keep searching!! Faith

    3. Hello, Hallmans, I usually pay no attention to virus warnings as they are so often just hoaxes. But this one came to members of our local computer club from our President, Richard, who is also an instructor at our Verde Valley College. So I know it must be an authentic virus! He said it infected his computer software. Faith Hutchings Your List Hostess If you get an e-mail with the attachement "happy.exe" or "happy99.exe" DO NOT - DO NOT try this attachement. This program will modify critical files in you e-mail programs and attach itself to every outgoing e-mail you sent. The latest versions of McAfee and Norton do not detect this file as a virus. However, you will damage your system software if you open it. I am not reloading all of my software after reformating the Hard Drive to get rid of the problems it caused. Luckely, I had back-ups of all my data and the original disks to replace programs. However, I have been at the reload for 8 Hours and still have another 8 hours to go.

    3. I would like you to find the Husband of my Grand-aunt Myra Donnelly Hallman, her husband's name listed on the death certificate is Billy Hallman. Myra died in Philadelphia in January 1929. She was an actress and she also ran a boarding house on Vine Street. My mother and her surviving siblings know little of their aunt, their father did not approve of his sister decision to become an actress and leave town when her mother died in 1909. Myra had cousins in Philadelphia , the Howletts and they remember seeing Myra from time to time. What is unknown is whether Billy Hallman was involved in show business or was in some other line of work. In fact, it was only suspected that she had married, it wasn't confirmed until I got a copy of her death certificate last year that we knew it was Billy Hallman that she had married. What little is known, is that she was in silent films & she may also been in Vaudeville. We hope there are Hallmans out in the greater Philadelphia area who had a father or an uncle named Billy Hallman who was involved with Myra Donnelly in the 1920's. We are desparate for info on Myra like a photo(thecousins always said she was strikingly beautiful with red curly hair) her life, when Billy and Myra got married, did they try to have children and a ton of other questions. As much as her brother was ashamed of her life as an actress, he asked that her body be returned to her birthplace, Bridgeport, CT, when she died in 1929 at the age of 45. Ed Hagerty

    1. Re: Would like to find___?
    2. Faith Hutchings
    3. Hi, Hallmans I have an idea for our List to get a little activity going again. Three of you search through your "would like to find___" list for a Hallman or connection beginning with a given name that starts with the letters "A", "B", or "C." The first three to get their "would like to find" posted will be the ones we will research this week. Post a short message to our list giving us the name (first and last name) and some information you already have about that ancestor, but don't tell us what it is you most want to find out about that person. Then the rest of the group will try to find one thing about that person and post it to the List. After one week we will ask you if any have come up with the answers. If some find the correct answers, then they post "would like to find" for given names beginning with the letters "D", "E", or "F." If no correct answers were given, we'll start the next week the way we did this week, with three different members posting their "would like to find." To make it fair, I will ask the members who post their "would like to find", to send to my personal address the answer of WHAT they would like to find on their ancestor, so I will know if any answers are correct, too. For that reason, I won't take part. I'm counting all of you to try to find at least one thing to post on each name. Let the game begin! Faith Hutchings Your List Hostess faith@verdenet.com

    3. Hello, Hallmans, I received this query below in a personal message. I'm passing it along to you, in hopes someone will have information on Susannah Hallman to help this researcher. She is not a subscriber, yet. If you have any information, please post it to the List. Even if information is just for one person, it is important to get it into the archives for future researchers as when it is e-mailed to a personal address, it never reaches the archives. Thanks, Faith Hutchings Hi, I am seeking information on the family of Susannah Hallman who married Thomas Marple abt 1725, Moreland Manor, Phila, PA. Would appreciate any help. Thank You, Dorothy
