    1. [HALLMAN] Help with Hallman in Lincoln Co., NC
    2. MG
    3. Need help with Lincoln Co., NC Hallmans What I know: Anthony and Abraham Hallman are named in Henry Hallman’s will as sons. Henry b. 1716-1803. Next, a Catherine Hallman married Abraham Smith in Jan 1810, North Carolina. In 1829 Abraham Smith made oath that about 3 or 4 years ago he paid taxes to the sheriff for Abraham Holman deceased the sum of four dollars. Mary Smith, wife and Anthony Hallman are administrators of the estate of Joseph Smith. My question is, does anyone know who the father of Catherine Hallman was? Anthony or Abraham? I appreciate any help anyone can provide. Regards, Margaret Gray

Author: word_doctor29 Surnames: Hallman and Holcombe Classification: queries Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: William Henry Hallman Jr. (1897-1940) is my great-grandfather and was married to my great-grandmother, Ordress Ray. In my research, I came across the 1920 census which reports his marital status as divorced. I discovered what I believe is a marriage license for a marriage to Mary Holcombe on December 25, 2010. I cannot find any additional information about this marriage that I believe occurred prior to his marriage to my great-grandmother. When I shared this information with my grandmother and great-aunt, they asked me to research this potential first marriage further with the purpose of trying to identify whether any additional siblings might be found. Is anyone familiar with this situation or do you have additional information? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hi, Charlene. As Bill Hallman suggested, I will introduce myself since I suspect we may have a link that is not too far back. I notice your father’s middle name is Alphonso, which is not exactly a common name, and my mother’s father was Alphonso Hallman. He was born in 1877 in Norristown, PA, where many of the Hallman’s were located. He can also be traced back to Antonius Heilman. I had the opportunity some 20 years ago to visit Klein Niedesheim, where Antonius emigrated from, and tried to learn more about his background. I met with the unofficial town historian who was not able to help, saying that all the records from back then had been destroyed during the many battles over the years with the French in that area. I hope you have more luck than I did. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: ehallman30286 Surnames: Hallman, Holman, Holliman, Heilmann Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hallman/382/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would like to find a cousin(s) who has submitted a DNA test via either Ancestry.com or 23andme.com in my direct Hallman line. My great - great grandfather was George W. Hallman, born about 1830 in South Carolina and died about 1880 in Terrell County, Georgia. His name can be found spelled a variety of different ways (ie: Hallman, Holman, Holliman, Heilmann, and etc.) It is his line that I have hit a brick wall. The earliest that I have him is in the 1860 U.S. Census, being born in South Carolina, but going back from that date, the trail goes cold. There are several George Hallman's listed as living in South Carolina during the 1850 census, but which one is he? Some have posted him as being George Washington Bonaparte Hallman, but I find it difficult to accept. There are several George Hallmans in South Carolina in 1850. I would like see a DNA test from someone with ties to a South Carolina Hallman family that has a George Hallman (or spelling variation) in their fa! mily, come forward. They would be, by this time, a fourth to sixth cousin, more or less due to the generation gap. It would be a start. If you know of someone who fits this description, please ask them to contact me here on ancestry.com or email me directly at ehallman@windstream.net.
