This company was an all Irish unit and was made up of men from the Macon area. I suppose this could be your Anthony Halligan since he seems to have disappeared from his previous unit by the end of June. Here's his roster entry from the Legion Anthony Halligan - Enlisted 8/1/1861, Shown as 2nd Corporal on roll dated 12/2/1862 then as 2nd Sgt on Jan/Feb 1863 roll, 1/14/1864 roll shows "at hospital", No hospital records, AWOL on all further rolls

    3. I also have an Anthony Halligan, perhaps from Louth or Meath, born circa 1803. Married to Mary McKenna or McCana and imigrated circa 1945 first to New Jersey, Pennslyvania, Wisconsin and settled in Iowa, Ft. Dodge by about 1880. His father was Owen. He had brothers named James and Patrick who also were in Iowa.... Any thoughts on the Anthony name? It is not as common as Patrick or James..... ----- Original Message ----- From: <galegion@bellsouth.net> To: <HALLIGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2003 8:06 AM Subject: [HALLIGAN] Re: Anthony Halligan / Civil War history > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IQh.2ACIB/96.1.2 > > Message Board Post: > > This fellow enlisted in Company F of the Phillips Legion's Infantry Battalion on August 30th 1861.
