I know quite a few of my great uncles moved to New York and Chicago along with various cousins. My grandmother was Rose Halligan, married to James Halligan. I have an aunt who lives in Chicago also names Rose Halligan, sister of my mother Bridie Halligan. She moved there from swinford around 40 years ago. There are quite a clan of halligans.
