My husband has the same name as your grandfather. His father ( also called James ) was born in castlebar, county mayo 13 October 1909. He was the youngest of 13 children and his mother died when he was a baby so all the children were farmed out to relatives and friends. He ran away to England aged approximately 14 years old. We think some of his siblings were called Harry, George , Martin, nancy and Alice . George apparently went to Philadelphia, USA but we are not sure if any of the others went there. As most of the I IRSH records were lost in the fire in Dublin it is difficult to trace. We would be interested to hear your story as it is all about the same time and in the same county. Regards.
