    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: daletuckey Surnames: HALLIGAN, MCFADDEN/MCFADDIN Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.halligan/1.3.30.38.67.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Martin, my Halligan family stems from a pair of newlyweds, William and Eliza McFadden, of County Armagh, Ireland, who married on 28 Feb 1873, left home soon thereafter and arrived in Boston, MA, on 21 May 1873 (ship unknown). Their firstborn, William John, was born 19 Aug 1874 in Rockport, MA. Family remained there 1-3 years, then resettled to Comber, Ontario, CAN (30 m. east of Windsor). There, as many as eight more children were born, seven (five boys, two girls) are known to have reached adulthood. Family moved to Delray, downriver Detroit area, in 1896. William died 22 Feb 1900 and Eliza died 12 Dec 1923. Their children stayed in the downriver Detroit area. Family was never known to have maintained contact with Irish family, though Armagh Halligans were said to have been fruit farmers. If any of this ties to your Halligans, let's compare notes.
