They have intermarried for generations. My mother's name was Winifred Mary Griffin. They all lived between Lincs.& Yorks. for a while until one or two left for the U.S. and Australia. My G g grandmother was Catherine Ruan (Royan) who married Miles Halligan. I have to pull out my info and look but I'm thinking maybe John is the brother of Miles, Patrick etc. who left for New York.
