There are several databases on their site, the one with the miliary records is called DocumentsOnline. I did a quick search on that, and came up with: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=4517419&queryType=1&resultcount=4 That lists a John Halligan who served in WWII, and a date of April 6, 1915 is in the file (although it doesn't specify what that date is, birthday makes sense).
