Author: maryboconnell Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.halligan/12.43.44.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: hi, im a halligan from ireland,my name is mary, ill start at my greatgrandfather who was thomas halligan born around 1843 and came from co kildare, ireland, he married maria tailor, she was from co dublin, their twins john and elizabth were born in 1874 in rusk dunboyne co meath,we dont know exactly when but they moved to adare in co limerick,thomas was a herdsman there and we dont know how long they stayed there but they moved again to co tipperary to an estate again working as herdsman,his twin elizabeth died at the age of 38,john married ellen power and had 7 children thomas, james, john,william, edward, elizabeth, joseph, my great grandfather john died at the age of 51 or 52 and my grandmother was left to rear the 7. john is my father, he is 91, elizabeth,his sister is alive too, she is 87 but the other 5 have all passed away.i dont know if this is of interest to you but i thught the rusk connection is interresting.
