Immigrated to Canada 1844, came to US (Dubuque, Ia) 1846; Married Catherine McCauley (b. 26 Mar 1830 in Ireland) in Winona, Minn.or LaCrosse, Wisc. 7 June 1855. They had 8 children: Mary Ann 1857; Thomas 1859; Bridget 1858; Patrick 1862; John 1866; Catherine 1867; Ann 1869; James 1872. James (Sr) died 29 Mar 1901 in Flandreau, S.D. and Catherine died 16 Mar. 1894. I don't know anything about James' brothers, or if any came over with him. Are you researching Patrick A. Halligan b. 1862, with wife Margaret?? If so, we're probably on the same track. Let me know and I'll share any and all information I have on various Halligans.
