Halligan, with his younger brother, Christopher, both very young men, mere boys in fact, crossed the North American continent with ox team caravan to seek their fortune in the gold hills of California. After acquiring their desired amount of yellow gold, returned home in a sailing boat around the horn of South America and back to New York City. While making the trip westward from Anamosa, Iowa, the two boys met up with and became very good friends of both "Buffalo Bill" Cody and "Wild Bill" Hiccock. Daniel, after his marriage to Catherine Durigan, farmed near the monestary located southeast of Dubuque, Iowa. In 1889, he moved to Fort Ddoge, Iowa, and bought a large tract of land nine miles west of Fort Ddoge, starting in the cattle feeding business, retiring from active business in 1908, mving into Fort Dodge." Makes me think that there might be some connection between Patrick/Thomas and Daniel/Christopher Halligan boys. What do you think?
