I have some info on Daniel and Mary (Halligan) Mahoney, including a picture of Margaret with some of her sisters and mother. They had 13 children so I'm not sure what info you are looking for exactly. I have info about Daniel's parents (Daniel and Catherine (Lane) Mahoney) also. I'd be happy to share whatever I can. My husband in Daniel and Mary's ggg-grandson. His gg-grandfather was John C Mahoney who was Margaret's older brother. You can either email me or reply back to this thread. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Edith FENNELLY which was taken at the E. S. Dunshee Studio in Boston, Massachusetts. By 1875 they relocated to Comber, ONT, with first-born son, William J. About 1886, they and their 7 children moved to USA to downriver Detroit area called Delray. Family prospered from there. Searching for connection to Irish Halligans. Eliza's younger brother, Mark McFADDEN, came to Detroit about 1890, soon developed a very successful coal & ice business. Sometime after WWI he invited a nephew, Victor W. HOSIE, to come to Detroit from County Louth, Ireland, and help run his business. Did it ever get mentioned to you that the Captain of the ship may have required a marriage cert prior to them being allowed on board? Quite common in those days. Were they RC or Protestant? William is a very unusual name if they are RC. Did you get the place name in the marriage cert that they were married? Most of my research is on the RC side but I do have some items from the protestant. look forward to hearing from you again....Martin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Their firstborn, William John, was born 19 Aug 1874 in Rockport, MA. Family remained there 1-3 years, then resettled to Comber, Ontario, CAN (30 m. east of Windsor). There, as many as eight more children were born, seven (five boys, two girls) are known to have reached adulthood. Family moved to Delray, downriver Detroit area, in 1896. William died 22 Feb 1900 and Eliza died 12 Dec 1923. Their children stayed in the downriver Detroit area. Family was never known to have maintained contact with Irish family, though Armagh Halligans were said to have been fruit farmers. If any of this ties to your Halligans, let's compare notes.
