    3. Hi Adriana, I would like to know more about your HALLIGAN family. I too have a HALLIGAN in my line, she is Elizabeth Ann HALLIGAN born Jan. 1843 & the first census I find her on is the 1880 born in WV or VA age 38 already married about 1868 to William KIEL. Her death cert. states father Wm. HALLIGAN & mother Mary KAVANAUGH both born Ireland. Since VA or WV is so close to PA I thought there may be a connection. I checked 1840 & 1850 VA census with no luck finding the family. 1. [HALLIGAN] Halligan's from Co. Cork
    2. Mary Halligan
    3. My great grandfather, John Patrick Halligan (1833-1881) was from Co. Cork and came to America around 1862. John came over alone (as far as I know). He was shipbulder. He married Alice Burns in 1865 in Mobile, AL. and fathered five children - Josephine, Maggie, Albert Sidney, Robert Lee, and Edmund. The name on Albert's baptismal certificate is Albert Sidney Lyons Halligan. I have no idea where the Lyons name came from. Edmund died as a baby. Josephine and Maggie were sent back to Ireland around the early 1880's, when Alice (d. 1883) and John (d. 1881) died. Robert and Albert (my grandfather, who was five years old at time) were raised by their mother's relatives. Robert later died without marrying. Albert married Johanna Coffee in New York City around 1910. Maggie and Josephine visited New York City for their brother's wedding. There are a number of brick walls on my Halligan side as many records seem to be missing and very little information was passed on because my grandfather was so young when his parents died. Mary Halligan

I was told that all the HALLIGAN's from Cleveland were related and today I've gotten a lot more information and do beleive that now. I've connected all but about 3 to the family. 3. Hi Bob and Kay. We are related and descend through the Anthony Line. You too? I can put you in touch with Constance Nash Nelson of Blair, NE who follows this line closely. I descend from Anthony's son Daniel Alexander who married Katherine Ellen Durrigan. The Durrigans were also of Cascade and came from Meath near the Louth border. Halligans and Durrigans knew each other in Ireland. Daniel and Catherine's line ends in two daughters. Constances descends from Katherine who married Conn Nash. I descend from the youngest child, Margaret Alice who married Frank Tobin of Mitchell, SD. Margaret went to Clark College after her parents died, later becoming a school teacher. Let's keep sharing information.....FYI, my son is Halligan Augustine Erickson, AKA Hal, so the name continues as a first name in my family. mbshea@toad.net 4606 Beechwood Road College Park, MD 20740 301.209.9401 > Being new to this Digest, I'm wondering if any of the 19 have info about these Halligans: Patrick, James & Anthony (b. 1810) who came from Co. 3. I don't believe I would be able to identify any of the photos, but I do have a St. Louis HALLIGAN in my line. My 2nd great grandparents were Carl William & Elizabeth Ann "Ellie" (nee HALLIGAN) KIEL. They married somewhere, abt. 1869. I know not where & I don't know where they are in 1870 census. But their son, my great grandfather was born 1869 MO. I think they just missed them on the 1870 St. Louis census. I find them from 1880 on, in St. Louis. Ellie was born Jan. 1843 either VA or WV according to census records. Her parents were born in Ireland. I am hoping there is a connection to your HALLIGAN, since they were in the same St. Louis area.
