Re: Descendants of John HALL and Jeanne/Jane WOOLEN (Jhall) >From what I've recently read on the web, the John Hall who married Jeanne/Jane Woolen originally lived in Hartford for a few years and then New Haven and Wallingford. Another, older, John Hall also lived concurrently in Hartford. That John Hall married Mary Wilcox (most likely the daughter of his neighbor, John "Wilcocke", in Hartford). He moved to Middletown, CT in 1650 where his family prospered. I thought I'd try to sort out these two families, as they crisscross each other a bit and were both early contributors to the history of Connecticut. My data came in part from these websites: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pointe/6265/john_hall.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdevlin/bios/hall.htm The info about the exploration party that John Hall of New Haven and Wallingford took part in is primarily from the histories of Dorchester, MA and from the will and history of Samuel Hall: "Samuel Hall, the testator, came to New England about 1633. In that year he, with John Oldham and another person, set out on an exploring expedition and went as far as the Connecticut River. They returned January 20, 1633-4, having endured much misery." There were actually other "persons", including the famed and notorious trader, John Oldham, and John Hall. This John Hall seems to be the one who settled in Hartford and then Middletown eventually.
