    3. Charlotte, In response to your request copied below; I am a member of the Hall List. I have Halls on my maternal side of the family in Walker County GA along with Hollis & Hendrix lines. I read the Hall List fairly frequently and post occasionally. I am involved with various surname projects and their associated email lists. All of the lists that I frequent discuss all genealogy issues including DNA testing for genealogy purposes in the same list, without restraint. The only restrictions deal with normal etiquette, politeness, and vulgarity, and criticism of others. Criticisms are usually handled strictly by the Admin with members bowing out of criticism of others. Admins can & should discontinue membership to those who fail to follow generally accepted rules for treatment of others. A general guideline for such rules should be made available before cutting off membership to someone. I am convinced that today and into the future one should not try to separate genealogy and DNA testing. They fit so well together and supplement each other. It is inconceivable to me that someone knowledgeable of genealogy thinks the two should be separated. The Y-DNA & MT-DNA testing at issue is designed for one purpose only, which is to supplement genealogy research. I suspect that some experienced traditional genealogy researchers that are not up to speed on the value of DNA testing for genealogy might not realize the important role Y-DNA & MT-DNA can and should play in one's overall genealogy research. One of the best ways to educate genealogy researchers (experienced and new) on DNA testing's proper role in genealogy is to continue its discussion on all genealogy lists. In my view, the question should not be what makes a minority or a majority happy, but rather whether the list purpose is about genealogy (which includes DNA testing for genealogy purposes). I have been getting mail on both sides, so I think that the only fair thing to do is to ask you to please write to me privately and tell me what you think about it, and whether you want to see it disussed here. After all, this is YOUR list, not mine, and I want to make the majority happy. I will see what the results are and let you know. I will wait till Tuesday evening and then tally up those for and those against. Thank you, Charlotte
