I believe my Benjamin Hall, who died 1803, Halifax C0., Va., was the son of a John Hall, who died circa 1778, leaving a minor child, Mildred, whose guardianship papers are in the court records of Halifax Co., Va. When the estate was finally settled there were 3 heirs: my Benjamin, Mildred and her guardian: James Purcell. Probably James inherited in lieu of his wife, Elizabeth. I know nothing about this John Hall. Where did he live before his death? No will has ever surfaced. I do not know where Benjamin lived before appearing in Halifax Co., Va. 1765 witnessing a deed. I do not know when or where Benjamin married Wilmouth Irby, daughter of Anthony Irby. Benjamin left three sons: William who lived in Pittsylvania Co., Va; John Robins who moved his family to Tennessee; and Thomas who remained in Halifax where he died 1853. William married Sally Dillard and had at least one son, Benjamin, who married Martha Walrond and moved to Ballard C. Ky. I know about John Robins, for he is my ancestor. Thomas married Kitty Yeates and had several daughters and one son: Alexander T. Thomas married 2nd Nancy Tucker and had 3 sons: Henry,Albert and Jackson V., plus several daughters. Perhaps someone knows about William and Thomas and could share some answers to the questions in paragraph one. The DNA for Benjamin is family #11 in Family Tree DNA web site, the Hall program. There are 2 close matches; however those descendants do not go back as far as my Benjamin, so we are at a standstill. Any help greatly apprecisted. Grace Hall Upshaw
