    3. Since we are discussing census screw up's, lets talk about a really strange one. County borders changed all the time. When older people gave where they were born, do you think they gave the name of the county when they were born, or as it is now? I've seen it both ways. For counties newly created, it is fairly obvious, but... Aletha (Thornton) Swift states on the 1865 census she was born in Chenango Co, NY, but she married in one of the far north towns in what is now Madison Co. Vicki
