I am still searching for James Hall's wife named Lavina (Lovina). She was born on 28 Sept 1809 somewhere in North Carolina. James married Rachel Hill in Rutherford County, NC on 30 Nov 1830. They had a daughter in Dec 1832. Recently I acquired a Family Bible family page record that Rachel's sister Olive who married Hiram Dunkin had. In there it states that Rachel died in Oct 1836 which left James with at least one daughter,Martha. The next time I found James was in the 1840 Iowa - Jefferson County and he had 1 son 0-5 years old, 1 daughter 0-5 years old and 1 daughter 5-10 years old. Rachel could have died in childbirth in 1836 or James's new wife, Lavina could be the youngest daughter's mother. In the 1850 census it only gives Martha and a son, Christopher, born in 1839 in Illinois that were born before 1840. The other daughter must have died. James either married Lavina in North Carolina after Oct 1835 or in Illinois but I don't know which county he went to before settling in Iowa.
