Regarding the roots message about a marker for your ancestor's grave: You need to write to the V.A. and get a copy of VA Form 40-1330, the "Application for Standard Government Headstone or Marker". You will need to provide the name of Soldier, Date entered service and date released from service, date of Birth and Death, branch of service, highest rank obtained, which war he fought in, type of headstone or marker you would like etc... the name of the cemetery where he is buried, section of cemetery. Additionally, if you can provide the name of the unit or Battalion that is also helpful. Incidentally, the government will not pay to have the marker installed. That is something that you have to do on your own. I ordered one for my 2nd great grandfather's grave and had no problems getting it. Debbie Seamons Allyn, Washington
