    3. My Halls are the same way. My gg-grandmother was Angeline Hall. My grandmother didn't even know who her grandmother was. I found her name on the death certificate of her son's. I can remember asking my grandmother when I was young what her grandmother's name was and she would just say, "You know, it is kind of funny, but I just don't know." I remember that vividly because I thought it was so sad that she didn't know her grandmother. There were terrible alcohol problems within that part of the family and they must have avoided censuses because I can't find them. I know that they were in Des Moines, Iowa in 1864 and she was either married to Thomas Porter or W.H. Porter (it is reported both ways) because that is where my g-grandfather was born. Her and Thomas (or W.H.) drop out of sight about that time and I can't find them. She may have been Cherokee because my grandmother said she had Cherokee blood from that side of the family. I have even wondered if she was Mulungeon. Strange though, because as I understand it, there were no Native Americans or Mulungeons in Iowa in that time frame. I have just about given up on this quest. Seems like I may never find her. Anyone have any Iowa Hall connections? Connie
