    1. Eveline HALL Cline
    2. Ginny Painter
    3. I am searching for information about my great great grandmother, Eveline HALL Cline (born c. 1858 and died c. 1930), probably of Kentucky. She married Adam CLINE, also probably of Kentucky. Adam was killed c. 1899 and Eveline remarried a THOMAS (or THOMPSON). She may have moved to West Virginia at some point because her daughter Myrtle Cline WADE, my great grandmother, was married in Boone Co., WV, in 1912. I have an old family bible that lists Eveline's parents as Hiram and Lucy DELPH Hall; however, I have found some other errors in this bible so this info. could be incorrect. This is all I have to go on so any additional information would be most appreciated! Thank you. Ginny Painter gpainter@wvinter.net er@wvinter.net

    1. Documentation
    2. Recieved this from another list,it is written by Betty Stokes, and is probably the best advice I've seen on documenting evidence. Thought everyone would like to see it..... ============================================================ EVIDENCE FOR PROOF Evidence is the means of proving or disproving a fact. There are five types of evidence: 1. PRIMARY: Primary evidence is that from a record when the record itself is the cause or result of the action or fact to be proved. Examples are: Vital records, Wills, Church Records, Tombstones etc., This is the best evidence. 2. COLLATERAL: Collateral evidence is when it is collateral to the purpose of the records but never the less an integral part of the record: Example: If a man speaks of his daughter by her married name, it signifies a marriage when no marriage record can be found. 3. SECONDARY: Evidence consists of statements made by persons of facts they know of their own knowledge: Examples: Oaths, Old Letters, Depositions. 4. CIRCUMSTANTIAL: If two or more facts are so related, that if one which can be proved by a higher type of evidence is true. When the other is necessarily, true. Example: Record shows a daughter of a man and later he marries someone, it shows he was married before and had at least one daughter. 5. REPORTED: Rumor, Hearsay, County Histories, and Many Biographies. These are the least trustworthy but good for clues. SOURCES OF GENEALOGICAL MATERIALS 1. PRIVATE: Family Bibles, Ledgers, Diaries, Photograph Albums, Samplers, Old Silver, Fly Leaves of old Books, Old Letters, Old Wills, Diplomas, Citations, Discharge Papers, School Records, Insurance Claims, Baby Books, Grandmother Bracelets, Etc. 2. PUBLIC: Census, Pension, Military, Land Tax, Deeds, Laws, Church Records, Court, Probate, Vital Records, Mortality, Immigration, Naturalization, Obituary Notices, Cemetery Records and Tombstones, Register of Voters, Maps, and Plat Books. City Directories and Telephone Books. 3. COMPILED: Printed Genealogies, County & Local Histories, Periodicals, Compiled Tax Lists, Cemetery, Etc., Newspapers - Articles, Brand Books. ============================================================

    3. In the "Misc. Bios of Racine", published in the late 1890s (I think) it is mentioned that a W. H. Amos married Mary A HALL, dau. of S. L HALL, a prominent lawyer. 1. William HALL in OK
    2. Misti Moss
    3. Hello all. I have been on my biggest stump on my HALL line. I think that most of it being that my grandmother never saw here father past the time that she was 10 and there was never anymore mention of him, for the most part. My grandmother's father was James N. Hall. He was b. ca 1890. He married Arenna PIERCE. They lived in OK, (SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW...HA) when my Grandmother was born. She, in her elder ages never knew anything more than OK. They did move and live in Camp Co, TX where a few of their children were born. Their 6th child, who is the only living child knew that she was born in Marlow, OK. Although, she too does not remember much about her father. Her parents were divorced and her mother lived in Titus co, TX (near Camp co, TX). Her father remained in OK in a hospital. Anyways, an aunt of mine remembers that my great grandmother said that her in-laws names were William Hall and Lily or Liby. My great aunt that is living remembers his siblings being Tom, Henry, Clay, Maude, and Clara. Maude was to have married a Geroge Shoemaker. I have not been able to find any proof of any of this information other than that of my ggrandparents. Any help would be appreciated on bringing some answers to this much searched for question. Please except my apology for repeating this again to those loyal to the HALL list. I was hoping that there might be some newcomers to the list! Thanks, Misti Moss mdmoss@pnx.com

    1. Internet Tax Nonsense
    2. This is a message posted on another list, but I feel it is of interest to everyone on the net. One more urban legend created by bored children: There is a rumor being circulated about email surcharges that would be collected by the local phone companies and turned over to the Postal Service. This rumor has no basis in fact. I checked it out at the website of the US House and found the message below. Anyone can check out any House legislation by using this URL http://www.house.gov/house/searchall.htm. No Postal Internet Tax There is another rumor spreading on the Internet concerning a supposed legislation that would impose a 5-cent surcharge by the U.S. Postal Service on every e-mail delivery. This is a completely false rumor. There is no such bill pending before Congress. "Bill 602P" is not a valid bill number, nor is "Congressman Schnell," the purported author of this bill, a Member of Congress. I have been assured by the Postal Service that it has never contemplated such legislation, nor would it support it if it were proposed. On a related matter, you might be interested to learn that I voted in favor of H.R. 4105, the Internet Tax Freedom Act. This bill, which passed the House in June 1998, established a national moratorium on taxes that would interfere with the free flow of commerce via the Internet. It also established a national policy against federal and state regulation of Internet access. I whole-heartedly support low-cost access to the Internet. I believe the web is an invaluable educational tool, the use of which needs to be encouraged, not thwarted by unnecessary charges. If you have any questions, please contact me. lois.capps@mail.house.gov contact me. lois.capps@mail.house.gov

    3. Found Harvey S. Hall b. Aug 1849 and his wife Ella A. (Wright) Hall b. 1854 in the 1900 US census for Shawnee county, Kansas in Williamsport Twp. Their 2 sons, Frank G. b. Dec 1879 and Irvin E. (?) b. May 1881 were with them. I have not been able to locate what happened to them and where they went. When did Harvey die and where is he buried? Who did the sons marry and what about their families? They had a daughter, Clara M. Hall who was born in 1878 and I don't know what happened to her either. Did she marry in Kansas or in Iowa before they left? Any help on this family would be appreciated. Janet King Bower Buznjan@worldnet.att.net
