    1. WWI Draft Cards
    2. Hey Linda! Thanks for posting the information about the draft cards. I think that you have pointed out a valuable resource to many of us who were unaware of it. Please continue to post and ignore the lamebrains who feel they have to nitpick anything that is less than the perfection they expect of others. I think you will notice that the nitpickers will rarely post- they can only destroy, not build. It is unfortunate that we have such rude and undisciplined and ignorant people intruding on what should be a pleasant and educational past time. ILLIGITIMUS NON-CARBORUNDUM TU! 1. James Hall b. 1812 in Scotland?
    2. R. L. Buzz Bower
    3. I am still searching for James Hall's wife named Lavina (Lovina). She was born on 28 Sept 1809 somewhere in North Carolina. James married Rachel Hill in Rutherford County, NC on 30 Nov 1830. They had a daughter in Dec 1832. Recently I acquired a Family Bible family page record that Rachel's sister Olive who married Hiram Dunkin had. In there it states that Rachel died in Oct 1836 which left James with at least one daughter,Martha. The next time I found James was in the 1840 Iowa - Jefferson County and he had 1 son 0-5 years old, 1 daughter 0-5 years old and 1 daughter 5-10 years old. Rachel could have died in childbirth in 1836 or James's new wife, Lavina could be the youngest daughter's mother. In the 1850 census it only gives Martha and a son, Christopher, born in 1839 in Illinois that were born before 1840. The other daughter must have died. James either married Lavina in North Carolina after Oct 1835 or in Illinois but I don't know which county he went to before settling in Iowa. Anyone that has any info or ideas on James's second marriage, their help is sure needed. Janet King Bower Buznjan@worldnet.att.net Puyallup, Washington

I have found a researcher who will copy your cards at a reasonable price. The genealogy e-mail lists prohibit the posting of information on professional researchers so I cannot give you the information here. At the bottom of this message you can see how to get the information. And today we now have a notice in Rootsweb Review explaining that I was in error about my posting and quoting the Regional Manager at the GA NARA. It's certainly nice to have my credibility trashed <huge sigh> I'm not going to fight this battle any longer folks. I sat up a page at my home web site that will tell you about the WW1 Draft Cards and give you the information on the lady who will do the look-ups and copies of your cards. 2. Richard & Debbie Seamons
    3. Regarding the roots message about a marker for your ancestor's grave: You need to write to the V.A. and get a copy of VA Form 40-1330, the "Application for Standard Government Headstone or Marker". You will need to provide the name of Soldier, Date entered service and date released from service, date of Birth and Death, branch of service, highest rank obtained, which war he fought in, type of headstone or marker you would like etc... the name of the cemetery where he is buried, section of cemetery. Additionally, if you can provide the name of the unit or Battalion that is also helpful. Incidentally, the government will not pay to have the marker installed. That is something that you have to do on your own. I ordered one for my 2nd great grandfather's grave and had no problems getting it. Debbie Seamons Allyn, Washington

    3. Debbie, some states provide funds for the intallation of markers furnished by the VA. I ordered a free marker for my brother who served during the Korean Conflict. The state of Illinois reimbursed me up to $50 for the installation. I believe one can obtain the applicable state address from any furneral home director. Charley in IL.

    3. Richard, The names are too close not to be the Louansey I'm looking for, especially considering how the "spelling" was done back in the 1800's. I know that you have seen how many different ways a name could be spelled back then. Do you have any further information on Isaac Hall (or maybe does any one else on the list) as to where he came from, or was he born in Rutherford Co.? You see, my grandfather would never talk about his family (the Hunt's), so I am having to try to work on his family almost totally from scratch. Louansa/Louansey married my great-great-grandfather, John Pinkney Hunt, and you are the first person to ever give me even a small amount to try to work from. I do very much appreciate your sending me this info. Are you interested in any of the info I have on Louansey and John Pinkney Hunt?
