    1. Squire HALL
    2. During the time 1750-1830, there were several people named "Squire HALL", a slightly unusual name. If we list all of them that we can find, perhaps we can determine if there is a connection among them. I'll start off with Squire Hall (b: 13 Feb 1789 d: 03 Mar 1854 IN) who married Delila Underwood (d: 06 May 1829 IN). This "Squire" was the son of William Hall (abt 1758 PA - 1844 IN) and Sarah. Does anyone have any documentation that this name might be a tribute to "Squire" Boone? Best regards, Jim Patrick, Tampa, Florida

    1. Halls of Southern Illinois
    2. Please send me your most wanted HALLS that touched down in Southern Illinois!! Have spent the last 2 weeks inputing into the computer a lifetime collection of information on the HALLS that lived or migrated thru southern Illinois. Now don't stop reading because you believe this is just Illinois!!! As many of you know, the Old Pike or the National Road ended at southern Illinois and there existed a transient atmoshere which attracted pioneers moving westward. Some even ended up staying for a generation before moving on. The National Road started in Maryland and wound around lightly touching upon Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and Indiana. Then comes the migration of ancestors from Georgia, North Carolina,Tennessee and Kentucky. Some points of origin have been Anson County, NC; Wilkes County, GA and Maury County, TN. Lastly we have the Mississippi wayfarers. Many travelling on flatboats up the muddy river and disembarking in southern Illinois. I would like to hear from anyone with a HALL ancestor who lived in Saline County, Wayne County, White County or Hamilton County, Illinois. If I can't help you, maybe I can put you in touch with others that can. Candee Hoff, a desc. of Elizabeth Hall Clevenger Cross

    3. To Mr. Bill Hall - I tried to answer your email but my message keeps coming back and cannot get to your address ........... I don't believe your Henry Hall is the son of my Richard Hall because Richard's son moved to KY with his wife Elizabeth and family. Also, I believe that my Henry Hall was born in the 1740s. However, I will keep you in mind and if I run across a Henry that would fit I will post it to the list. Dianne Gaithersburg, Maryland

    3. Marlene - I am interested in the Richard Hall that was in Marsh Creek (Gettysburg, Pa) in 1743. I would love to know if he is my Richard Hall who shows up in Fayette Co., PA by 1770. My Richard had a wife Sarah and sons John, Henry, Moses, William and Richard. He probably had daughters also but I can find no names mentioned. If you find ANY information on ANY of the Halls in March Creek would you please let me know. I have hit a brick wall on these folks. In turn I shall put you in my files as trying to sort out the same group and let you know if I find anything. Dianne Gaithersburg, Maryland

    1. Elizabeth Hall and Joseph Faris/Phares Philadelphia
    2. Marlene DiGiovanni
    3. I'm new to this list and wonder if anyone has any clues to this couple? Elizabeth Hall m. Joseph Faris/Phares 1729 in Philadelphia, PA. Is this the same Joseph Faris/Phares who is known to have settled in Marsh Creek (now Gettysburg, PA) by 1741? These Hall men also settled at the same time: Richard Hall, James Hall, Adam Hall and Edward Hall. An Edward Hall is shown dead in 1775, aged 75 with Wm. Hall and Edward Hall his heirs. Are these Hall men connected to the family of Elizabeth Hall Faris/Phares? Does anyone have Hall in Philadelphia or York Co. in these time frames? Will certainly appreciate any clues! Thanks, Marlene Marlene DiGiovanni MarleneDiGi@prodigy.net

    1. Hall's of America book
    2. I sent an e-mail to Charles Hall inquiring about his book. Although he did not have my line, he sent the following very worthwhile information about the book: ".....our Halls: William Hall, Bermuda Hundred, VA, ca 1675, his son John Hall who m. Anne Bolling ca 1730, his son William Hall, Halifax Co., VA (large family), his son William Hall m. Charlotte Crenshaw ca 1800, came to Daviess- Henderson Counties KY ca 1810, reared large family. Book: 200 ppg, full index, includes 3500 names, wills, deeds, court orders. $15.00 plus $2.00 s&h. Order from: Charles H. Hall 1636 Ridge Rd. Gilbertsville, KY 42044 Thanks for your inquiry, Charles." Hopefully this will be of interest to someone. At $15 for a 200 page book, I suspect he is losing money on each book he sells. Jack
