The next year, 1831, Mr. Warren, brought up as a missionary, the * Rev. Sherman Hall, a graduate of Dartmouth College, with his wife, and Frederick Ayer and wife as catechists and teachers. In June, 1832, Mr. Hall was joined by his classmate, the Rev. W. T. Boutwell, and the latter in October, 1833, established a mission at Leech Lake, the first attempted west of Lake Superior among the Ojibways of Minnesota. Hall, Rev. Sherman, missionary, 4 The child of the wife of Rev. Sherman Hall, was the first of pure white parentage born on the shores of Lake Superior, and west of Sault Ste. Marie. Dianne, Just catching up on some email and had saved your message as I have HALLs in Penn in the 1770s also. Have you checked out Gary Hafer's website? I found my brick wall on his site and have been able to verify the information. His site is at: www. familytreemaker.com/users/h/a/f/Gary-L-Hafer/ODT2-0001.html Our Halls were in Lycoming Co. PA, and in Northumberland Co., PA. Hope this helps!! Thanks, Patrick, for letting everyone know I've moved the HALL page to a new site. Sorry for not letting you know earlier, but I've been out of town. This webpage is set up for the exchange of HALL information. As Patrick says, if you have original material that you have obtained through your own viewing of courthouse documents (deeds, wills, probate records) or census records, please feel free to send them to me and I'll get the information posted to my HALL page as soon as possible. I'm adding new information almost daily. There is also an alphabetical listing of given names/dates/locations that is easily checked. Thanks everyone who has shared information previously. I'm much indebted to you all and so are the people who have profited from your sharing. To visit the HALL webpage, go to: http://bethg.shutdown.com/hall Please remember when submitting your information that I do not recommend sending information about living persons. Thanks. Please, repeat the new Hall address. I deleted it by mistake. Thanks, Jeanne
Does anyone know the last name of William M. Hall born 1804 in SC married Sarah XXX ,or where in SC or day and month of his and her birth. Thanks!! As ever, Jane
Hi folks, The HALL Surname Page has changed. This is the new address: http://bethg.shutdown.com/hall/index.html It is a good site. But could be an outstanding site if anyone could donate original materiel. I have. Will you? To donate material, it cannot be from books (copy write laws). It MUST be from material you have obtained from original records or "on-site" view. Such as Deed, Will, Settlements, Marriages, Birth, Death, Cemetery, etc..... Keep your records to yourself and you will loose more than you can gain. Godspeed.....Patrick

Their children were: James, Francis, Abdiah, Ruth, Mary, Pheobe, Joshua, Catey, and Martha Jay "Patty" Hall. Martha Jay Hall was my direct ancestor, born 1798 in Binghamton, Broome Co., NY and married 10-15-1814 in Chenango, Broome Co., NY. to William Henry Hardy, born in Nottingham West NY/? Westerly, RI on 4-16-1785 and died 12-30-1871. Other spouse, Esther Dowd. Anyone sharing this family please contact me, willing to share! or anyone able to confirm or add to this information. Greetings. Your request caught my interest. Especialy item # 5. I have been searching the Hall line, looking for a name series that may connect with what I have. Your Henry Hall with off spring Charles W. Hall really interest me. Here's what I have. 1. Charles William HALL (DOB/DOD unknown) + Stockwell (DOB/DOD unknown) 2 Henry Homer Hall 1883-1953 + Louise E. 1881 (?)-1964 3 Charles Homer Hall 1913-1993 3 Helen Rose Hall 1915-1970 + Grover Cleveland Henderson 1888-1946 *4 Daniel Authur Henderson 1951- *4 Jon David Gallock 1952- (me) * Birth from another relationship. I was adopted out shortly after my birth. The pass down of names between Charles and Henry is what caught my attention. In addition, my Hall males lived for a while in MI, WI, MN, NY, and ILL. Plus the time frame for your Charles W. Hall is close to what I think mine is. Thoughts..... ? r/ jon d. gallock ( lock@gol.com )
I'm compiling a brief biography of William A. HALL, for a reference book to be published in 2001, & I'm hoping someone on the list has heard of him. William (b. 22 Jan 1843, in Litchfield, Kennebec Co., ME) was the son of William C. (b. abt 1819, in ME) and Eliza (?) J. (b. abt 1825, in ME). Does William A. sound familiar to anyone? I'd be grateful for any information anyone can send me, & will happily share what information I've found. Thanks. Pat Pflieger feste@keystonenet.com

This database is a collection of parish records between 1749 and 1827. It contains birth, marriage, and death information for over 6500 people. Each records reveals the event date, be it birth, baptism, marriage, or death. In the case of death records, the page number in the original register on which the record appears is provided as well. Because nearly all other county records were destroyed by fire in either 1820 or 1865, this is an important collection for researchers of eastern Virginia ancestors. A copy of the original register is maintained in the archives of the Virginia State Library. Extended Description: >From 1677 to 1691 the Rev. Michael Typerios and James Bowker were ministers, but when their ministries began or ended is not known. In the year 1740 the Rev. John Blacknal appears on the first page of an imperfect vestry book. It cannot be ascertained how much of the vestry book was lost, or how long Mr. Blacknal may have served before 1740. He died in 1747, and was succeeded in 1750 by the Rev. John Dixon, the Rev. Richard Locke having served meanwhile for three months. In the year 1770 Mr. Dixon resigned and died in 1777. Four applicants appeared for the parish, the Revs. Thomas Baker, Thomas Field, Arthur Hamilton, and Archibald Avens, of whom Mr. Field was chosen, Mr. Baker having previously served three months. In the year 1778 Mr. Field either died or resigned, and the Revs. Robert Read and William Dunlop were candidates - the former being chosen. In the year 1784 the Rev. Thomas Hopkinson became the minister, and in the year 1789 the Rev. James McBride. In 1794 the Rev. Armistead Smith became the minister and was ordained by Bishop Madison. (Vestry Book of Kingston Parish.) The parish vestry in colonial Virginia was aristocratic in character, being composed of the wealthiest and most prominent men in the parish. From the year 1677, vestrymen serving Kingston Parish as recorded in the vestry book were: Richard Dudley, James Ransone, James Hill, Sands Knowles, George Burge, Thomas Bayley, Robert Elliot, Ambrose Dudley, Peter Ransom, John Billops, William Tompkins, Charles Jones, John Coot, Humphrey Tompkins, Edmund Roberts, George Dudley, John Hayes, Hugh Gwinne, Robert Barnard, Charles Debrum, William Marlow, Humphrey Joye Tabb, William Armistead, Kemp Plumer, Gwinne Reade, Thomas Hayes, William Tabb, Charles Blacknal, John Peyton, Captain Thomas Smith, Kemp Whiting, George Dudley, John Armistead, James Ransom, Robert Tabb, William Plummer, William Armistead, Edward Hughes, Francis Armistead, John Willis, Gabriel Hughes, John Billip, Walter Keeble, Edmund Custis, Edward Tabb, John Dixon, Thomas Peyton, Robert Mathews, Dudley Cary, Mordecai Throckmorton, James Booker, Josiah Dean, Thomas Smith, Jr., Samuel Williams, Joel Foster, Armistead Smith, Robert Cary, Thomas Tabb, Richard Gregory, James Bibber, Sands Smith, John Cary, Wilton Glasscock.
