I have a letter, dated 8 May 1897, written to my g/grandmother Permelia Ann (Cochran) Cook from her cousin Kate Keyes in Colombus, OH. Kate states in the letter of receiving a letter from Rev. W. N. HALL, pastor of the M.E. church in Winfield, Iowa. Rev Hall was asking for family info for a book on Hall's that he was composing. He further states that "William Hall came from England with a colony and settled in VA. This William was the father of: William, JR; Richard; James; John; Joseph; Anthony; Thomas; and Sarah". Permelia's grandmother and Kate's mother were sisters and dau's of the above Anthony Hall. Rev. Hall gave his line as William (from Eng.); William, JR; Johnathan; John(father of Rev. W. N. Hall). Can anyone identify any of these people? I have no clue as to Permelia's parents, much less her grandparents. She was b. in OH and her parents were born in VA(per census rec.). She married my g/grandfather William B. Cook on 4 Mar 1856 in Deer Creek, Pickaway Co., OH. I have to correct an error I made on a marriage date I posted earlier re Alvie and Bertha Hall of Dodge County, Georgia. They did not get married in 1904 when Alvie was 13. At the present I have no new date to post. :)

My grandmother had a sister Bertha Haynes born 14 November 1888 in Empire, Dodge County Georgia. She died 28 September 1975 and is buried in Bowers Cemetery near Empire, Dodge CO, Ga. She married a man named Alvie A Hall ca 1904. Alvie Hall was born 30 Oct. 1891, and died 26 Dec. 1985. He too is buried at Bowers Cemetery. I have Hall cousins on two lines so have decided to list separately. My grandfather's sister was Mary Martin Hall. She was born ca 1900 as Mary Martin in Buncombe County NC in town of Alexander. She went to Atlanta, Ga with her mother and siblings in the early 1900s. Eventually she married a man named Lewis/Louis Hall and they had a son named after his father Lewis/Louis. The son eventually moved to the Miami area of Florida. Mary died of breast cancer in the 1950s (if my memory serves me). Her siblings were Vaulty Asbury Martin, Desie Rae Martin, Ralph Martin, and Jimmy Martin. We are looking for information on Mary and her husband and children and grand children. I received this from a cousin who has been trying to track down our JAMES HENDERSON HALL. Has anyone researched this particular line? Just to say Hi. I've spent all evening looking around in tennessee. I found an interesting James H. Hall It is listed as Jr. but the parents are James Nathaniel Hall and Elizebeth Biddle.( I can't figure out how they got the Jr. part.) His birthdate is listed as 9/13/1821 in washington county,Tn. Washington county was part of washington county, N.C.( I forgot to write down the date of that "grand division"). I checked marriages in washington county and found James Hall and Elizabeth Biddle were married on 11/13/1800 by Rev. Samuel Doak.

I am new to this list, and have two Hall lines. One is from Folkestone, Kent, England. The other is from NC, TN, and AL. At this point, my biggest mystery is William Hall b. 17 Feb 1814, Nash Co, NC. The only indication of his exsistance (besides the now missing family Bible) is the 1850 Cocke Co. census. Hello Everyone, My name is Pelenaka. I live in the Kings County, California area. I am going to the Cemeterys on 11/10/99 around 12pm. The cemeterys that I will be visiting are the 2 in Tulare and the 1 in Visalia. There is also 1 in Hanford and 1 in Lemoore that I could visit. If there is a Grave site that someone would like me to write down the information that is on it please feel free to ask me. What I would need to know is: Exact name of person that I am looking for any birth and/or death dates for that person and maybe the names of family members that might have been buried there too. I noticed the last time I was there that some grave sites didn't have Headstones so information on them might be hard. Also on some it just says babies and dates but no names. So keep that in mind when I come back with the info , If I tell you I couldn't find it. I head to Tulare about once a month so If you miss my trip this afternoon don't fret, just send me the info and I will look at the grave site the next time I head out that way. If it is in the Hanford, Lemoore grave sites that you want, there is a chance I can get that anytime. The Recorders Office out here in Hanford wants $12.00 for any copy of Birth Certificates and $8.00 for Death Certificates. The records only go back as far as 1897 I think that is what they said. And Births weren't always reported ,so IF I can't get a copy that doesn't mean that they wern't born out here, That just means that it was never reported. If I find the information at the Recorders office , I will tell you what the index says ( Like father and mothers name and name of child and childs birthdate) , But if you want a copy then you will have to send me the money for me to get it. at to which at that time I will tell you where to send it. There are 7 Halls who sued to obtain Cherokee citizenship in the late 1800's, claiming they were of Cherokee descent! There is a huge, complete full name index of all these people at http://members.aol.com/rarebk/ Names include Blanche, James, jessee, William, Josephene, and a couple of more. I also found a surname index to another Cherokee book at the site, an old book, supposedly rare, called Old Cherokee Families and their genealogy, with a lot of English names, but did not check for Gunter. I did have some names copied for me. There is some Creek Indian genealogy stuff as well. I've traced my Hall line back to Mecklenburg Co. VA 1781. He is Ambrose Hall. Closely related to William and wife Francis. Also, very close by is James and wife Martha. A distance away is John Hall. I have suspected for some time that these Hall's were descended from Instance and wife Mary of Bristol Parish, Prince George County. James appears to be son of James, son of Instance. John appears to be son of Instance. William may be the youngest son of Instance. In addition, I came upon a record of a William in Pr. Geo. that mentions John of Mecklenburg. Co. Any thoughts? Oh. Forgot to mention. I have sent to Karen and Beth Groce my abstracts of the HALL'S of Mecklenburg Co., VA, in Deed Books 7 & 8. I'll let you know when they are posted at the site. Godspeed.....Patrick
