    1. MISTAKE
    2. Hey everybody, I posted a URL the other day about interment information for our ancestors. Everyone was complaining that it wasn't what it was supposed to be when they got the page. I kept typing in my goto box the address and I would get the right one. I looked at another list this morning and it dawned on my I had put the wrong ending on the address. so here it is again. <http://www.interment.net> or <a href="http://www.interment.net">click here</a> go to left side of screen click what country you are searching and it is self explanatory from there. It must be all these names going through my mind or I am just getting older than I thought, YOU THINK<GRIN> ~DEBBIE~

    1. Dr. Richard Lingan Hall
    2. Steve Roper
    3. I am seeking information about Dr. Richard Lingan Hall. I have seen the following but am unable to contact the person who submitted it to Genforum because theri email address did not work. He had 2 illegitimate children with HANNAH LUDWELL LEE, dau of Thomas Lee. She was the first wife if Gawin Corbin. Gawin died in 1760. Hannah and Richard wanted to marry, but could not because Richard was a Baptist. Their children were a son and a daughter who took the Corbin surname: Elisha HALL Corbin born 1763 and Martha HALL Corbin. Richard Lingan Hall died 1774, left a will probated in Fauquier Co VA. Now, I know from lookups that other people did for me and from documents I have the following: Richard Lingan Hall's mother MARTHA married Richard Hampton SR who died in Fauquier Co VA in 1766 as her 2nd husband. Martha died cMay 1772. Richard Lingan Hall was listed in Richard Hampton's will as a son in law. However, it appears he was really a stepson. Richard Lingan Hall had a sister MARY whose husband was Compton Williamson. They resided in Calvert Co MD in 1772 Richard Lingan Hall became the guardian of Richard Hampton's daughter, Elizabeth (who later married James Salughter). In 1772, Dr Richard Lingan Hall bought land from William Hampton and Richard Hampton, the sons of Richard Hampton SR, in Fauquier Co VA which had been devised to them to sell by their father's 1766 will. The will stated that after his wife Martha died the land was to be sold. Remember that Martha was also Richard Hall's mother. My question is this: In her book THE VENTURERS about the Hampton family, Virginia G Meynard states that Dr. Richard Lingan Hall married Martha Hampton, the daughter of Richard Hampton SR. If this is true, then Martha Hampton could not have been the daughter of Martha, " widow Hall", Hampton, or Dr Richard Lingan Hall would have been marrying his own sister. However, if Martha "widow Hall" Hampton was NOT the mother of Richard Hampton's children (William, Richard, Elizabeth, Martha, and Sarah) then he could have married his STEP sister Martha Hampton. However, where was she with all the shenanegans with Hannah Ludwell Lee? If anyone has concrete data about this, or could give me Virginia Meynard's address that I might ask her directly the source of her information, I would appreciate it. Regina Roper

    3. Have just recently found this Hall list. Would like to post my Halls. My Great grandfather was James Hall, Bertie County, North Carolina. He married several times (have proof of at least two and think there were more), have his will probated in 1891. My grandfather died before I was born, and my grandmother never knew much about the Hall side. My grandfather was John Wesley Hall, born and died in Bertie County, North Carolina, siblings in will were, John L., William, J. Grant, Dolly, Julia (July), & Temperance. Have located J. Grant's decendants, but can find nothing else on any others. Bertie County has a Julia Hall who married a Harrell, but I haven't been able to find anything else other than the marriage index. Any help would be greatly appreciated, also, what I do have I have proof of census records, will's, etc. faye

    3. Hi Brian, How wonderful for you! Yes stirring the pot does bring new stuff to the surface. The Halls are wonderful people and I am proud to be a decedent of them. When I went to the Hall reunion in Ozark, Mo. last Sep. I saw kin I had forgotten were Halls. They were just cousin Vonna , cousin Donna , Aunt Betty etc. I stayed away too long. And by doing so have lost so much to pass down to my children. I am ashamed not remember how much we need our past. I had always felt I could not live up to being as good as my Mother was. I thought she was a saint. Well I found out some things that hurt but it helps me to better understand why I am the way I am in some ways. I can go on and work on being the kind of person I would like to be. I may not ever get there but we all are works in progress. Good luck Nancy Blevins "Brian Hall" <newlynps@giant.net.au> wrote: G'day from Down Under, I was amazed at how many messages had been posted on the list when I checked my mail over the weekend. (I had 72). It shows what can happen when someone "stirs the pot". It is great to be part of such an active list. I have sorted out my Hall side of the family in Australia and have trace it back to a Maurice Hall who was born about 1832 in Shoreham, England. This may be Shoreham, Kent or Shoreham On Sea, Sussex. His Australian marriage certificate states that his father was Richard Hall (occupation Baker) and his mother was Caroline Walker. Maurice was a widower with five living children at the time of this marriage. If there are any list members living in this part of England who could do a look-up for me I would be most grateful. Keep up the postings. It is interesting to see what my US and Canadian cousins are up to. I also had difficulty getting information from my father as his grandparents were named Grandma and Grandpa. Be at ONE with the Universe! 3. Gerri Ann, I don't know where he came from. As I stated, when I received the information regarding the 1850 Census in Rutherford Co., TN, the person told me that the column for place of birth was badly stained and extremely hard to read. She could faintly see a TN, possibly on the mother, and ditto marks for the two children, but could not tell if Isaac Hall was also born in TN or not. That is why I'm asking the list if anyone has any connection to these people. I can guarantee you one thing, the Hall's are not the ONLY closed-mouth people. My grandfather, a Hunt, was also very closed-mouth regarding his family. He would never talk about them, even to his wife and children. He would only say that if you looked back too far, you might find a few hung as horse thieves! His father and grandfather are buried in a cemetery here in Western Tennessee (Crockett County), and he would admit to them being his family, but that was as far as he would go. I think we all have some branch in our families that don't really want to talk about their family. Thanks for your query, Gerri Ann, hopefully we can all find our missing "limbs" some day! 2. J. E. Leonard
    3. Seems like the list is humming again. I will post the Hall family I am looking for. Maybe some of the new listers might make a connection for both of us. Looking for info on the following family. This info was sent to me by someone who found them in the 1850 Census for Rutherford County, Tennessee. I was told the census was hard to read, it was possible that all four were born in Tennessee, but the person who sent me the info couldn't be sure. Hall, Isaac, age 35 Margaret, age 30 Louansa, age 10 Martha, age 8 Also in Rutherford Co., TN, found following marriage record: Hunt, Jno. P. Hall, Luanna 12/30/1857 J.W. Coleman, J.P. Believe that Luanna and Louansa are the same person. My great-great grandfather, John Pinkney Hunt (b.7/26/1831 Rutherford Co., TN, d. 2/10/1899, Crockett Co., TN), married a Louansey Hall (b.9/6/1840, d. aft. 1885 Crockett Co., TN). I am almost more than positive that Luanna/Louansa/Louansey Hall are all one and the same person. Also, information from IGI on a marriage record for Isaac J. Hall married Margaret Munday 20 Nov 1839 in Rutherford Co., TN. The marriage record from IGI (if correct), would seem to coincide with the Isaac and Margaret Hall found in the 1850 census. Is there anyone out there that might connect with these Hall people? Luanna/Louansa/Louansey Hall is my great-great-grandmother and would like to trace her family. Louansey (as she was known in the Hunt family), has been quite a stumbling block for at least 20 years. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, and am willing to share what info I do have on Louansey and John Pinkney Hunt's descendants. Jackie

    3. I am seeking information on a Hall family that has ties to MA, NH and IA. The first I have is Abbie T. Hall born in Salem, MA in 1812, the second is Thomas Dodge Hall born in Sutton, NH in 1819 and William Spencer Hall born in Sutton, NH in 1823. In 1832 at least William ended up in Michigan and went to school in Kalamazoo. All 3 turned up in Iowa by 1844. The mother of these 3 I think to be Abigail (?). She married Jonathan Nooning about 1833. They had 2 daughters Mary J. Nooning and Harriet L. Nooning. I have most of the history of Thomas after he moved to Iowa and some history of the other 2. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Ray

    2. Hello, I am glad ato see all of the activity on the HALL list. I have posted before, but am still at a brick wall with my ggrandmother, Sarah Evelyn HALL b. abt. 1845, d. in Laclede County, MO in 1880. According to Census records, she was born in KY as were her parents. She married Thomas Allen WILSON on Oct 8, 1867 in Laclede County, MO. Family legend has it that she was somehow related to Jesse James. It is possible that she may have gone by her middle name of "Evelyn" as one of her grandaughters and a great- grandaughter were named Evelyn. I would appreciate any clues as to her parents and siblings. Would love to have more than one Hall in my Family Tree! Phyllis Wilson Carpenter
