    1. Francis Hall of Connecticut
    2. Beth Sumpter
    3. Hi, I found this in an old e-mail to the list. It is an excerpt from, "New England families, genealogical and memorial; a record of the achievements of her people in the making of commonwealths and the founding of a nation" by William Richard Cutter. I am researching this line, and I wondered if anyone else is? The Asbury and Benjamin Franklin Hall I am looking for somehow descend from this line. Can anyone help? (The Hall Line). (I) Francis Hall, immigrant ancestor. was the son of Gilbert Hall, who lived in Kent, England. He came to America from Milford. county of Surrey, with his brother William, in the ship with Rev. Henry Whitefield and the latter's company. William Hall settled in Guilford, Connecticut, and Francis in New Haven, where he arrived in time to participate in a meeting of colonists held June 4, 1639. The following year he joined in the enterprise of planting a new settlement at the bead of a small inlet on Long Island Sound, which they named Fairfield. At this time Mr. Hall was thirty-two years old. In 1654 he purchased land in Fairfield, and in 1659 more land in Stratford, Connecticut, where he settled several years later. Here he was an attorney-at-law, and continued his practice almost to the time of his death. In 1669 he held the office of constable in Stratford, and May 11, 1676, was a deputy to the general court held in Hartford. He married (first) in England, Elizabeth (???), who with two sons, Isaac and Samuel, came with him from England. She died, it is supposed in Fairfield. July 6, 1665. He married (second), October 30, 1665, Dorothy, widow of John Blakeman, and daughter of Rev. Henry Smith. Francis Hall died March 5, 1689-90. His will was dated May 6, 1686, and proved March 14, 1689-90. Children: Isaac, born in England, mentioned below; Samuel, about 1635; Mary, Elizabeth, Rebecca, died March 28, 1690; Hannah, married, July 14, 1675, Joseph Blakeman, of Stratford.

    2. Ancestry's info free for 10 days - http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4125.htm TENNESSEE MARRIAGES, 1851-1900 (Update) Becoming the sixteenth state in 1796, Tennessee was home to over one million residents before the American Civil War. This database is a collection of marriage records from the state between 1851 and 1900. This update adds marriages from Warren County between 1852 and 1900. Researchers will find the names of both bride and groom along with the marriage date. The county where the ceremony was performed is also provided. Containing over 64,000 records and the names of about 132,000 men and women, this collection can be a tremendous aid to those seeking ancestors from the area.

My Halls were all up in the Plainfield, Ct. area. If you run into them, send them my way! My Mother just suddenly deceased this past month, so I am up to my eyeballs in things to do right now, and have not been able to spend as much time as I would like with genealogy, but I have a few suggestions. You could write the Ontario County Historical Society, Main Street, Canandaigua, New York, 14424 and they might help you. I will print out your list, and when I am at our cottage in Penn Yan, Yates County, this summer, about 16 miles from Hall, NY, I will try to look up the cemeteries. There is an Historical Society in Penn Yan, NY. also. I think if you just sent a letter to it, Penn Yan is small enough. It is on Main Street, but I do not know the number; the zip code is 14527. I could stop in there this summer and see if I can trace any of your Halls there. I am not familiar with any of those cemetery plots, but there is a big cemetery in Gorham, and two in Penn Yan, as well as smaller plots behind the churches. I have a map which shows them, down at the lake. In Hall, NY (in Ontario County, near the Yates Co. boarder) there are several Hall families. If you wrote to "Hall Farms", Route 14-A, Hall, New York you would reach the Hall family that has farmed there for generations. They might be of help. Maybe these suggestions will get you someplace. Hope so, and good luck! 1. Augustus Hall / KY/VA 1852/1932
    2. I haven't posted to this list in quite some time but, I am still searching after 20+ years for the parents of Augustus Hall, born March 22, 1852 in Lee County, VA. Married Evaline Morefield June 7, 1879 in Menifee County, KY. Had 6 children: "Emma" a daughter of Evaline's by a previous marriage (to whom is unknown), "David Frank Hall" born Jan. 13, 1885 died Feb. 22, 1980 in Rowan County, KY., "William "Willie" H. Hall" born March 30, 1887, "John Edward Hall" born Sept. 16, 1889 died Sept. 11, 1910 while in the military (my grand father), "Sarah Ellen Hall" born Dec. 21, 1894 and "James Roy Hall" born July 21, 1898. Evaline died Feb. 22, 1942 in Rowan County, KY. It is thought that Augustus died Feb. 17, 1932 also in Rowan County, KY. I have the marriage bond and license for Augustus and Evaline's marriage, and on there it says Augustus father was born in Greenup County, KY. and his mother was born in Carter County, KY. but, does not give their names. If anyone can connect with anyone in this Hall family please contact me by email at: kenhall@kenhall.com Thank you all very much for any help you might be able to give. Kenneth Hall

    1. Hall update
    2. First I want to thank everyone who sent me some leads. I posted on 2/20 the following: Mahlon raised his family in Bourbon County, Kentucky. I am trying to locate Mahlon's father I checked the 1791 Bourbon County, Kentucky tax list I found several Hall's listed; Aron, Caleb, Joshua, Orasha, Thomas and William. I FOUND that Caleb is Mahlon's father and now have the history back to Leonard HALL about 1730 in Maryland and died in 1809 in Barren County, Kentucky. Seems that this Hall family lived in several Counties in KY, large land owners. A researcher told me about a book "Life and Times of Leonard Hall" , copy on microfiche at the LDS, they had the copy and WOW I am overwhelmed. The book is well documented and the author had copies of the original documents, land, wills etc. I copied several pages and will be pulling all the information together and will post it very soon to the list. Just had to pass on the good news and say thanks Barbara Guinn HALL LINES: DEWITT CO, IL - BOURBON CO, KY - BEDFORD CO, VA - FREDERICK CO, MD
