    3. Charlotte and Michael, THANKS! The first gateway posting to the Hall list. Let me remind list users, that if you want to reply to one of these posts, you need to do it on the message board, not the email list. The poster is not likely to be a list member. We should expect to see a lot of new people that will add big value to the list. john. 3. Charlotte, I believe any discussion regarding DNA should be kept as it goes to the openness of subject matter.I think that all subject matter should be allowed. I also recognize not all are interested in DNA research and I can sympathize with how they feel when getting 64 messages in one day on a subject they don't want to hear about. But my grand father use to say " You can't stop a locomotive from going down hill once it's started". I use to laugh at him about that and would say, "sure you can, just push the break peddle." I just hope those interested will remain and others will grow to like hearing about it and maybe come to be interested in it. No is saying everyone has to be tested we just want to share our success and find other family members who we are related to. Thanks for letting the discussion remain open and I hope all is settled now. Again I would love the DNA subject matter to stay on the list. I really would not like to censor any subject for if we start with DNA than what will it be next? Traveling ministers didn't visit very often and a couple would pledge to be married and begin living together as man and wife. Then, when the minister finally appeared the actual ceremony was performed. And those ministers often arrived back at a point of civil registration with a pocket full of scraps of paper, weeks or months after having performed marriages. If they got wet, or lost or were illegible, there warn't gonna be no record of that wedding. Somewhere, in a historical society office, I saw a wad of papers that had come from an old trunk belonging to a circuit rider, including weddings and couple of baptisms. I don't worry a lot if I can't find a wedding record. It's nice when it's available, but there's more than one way to skin a cat. 3. I didn't see it as 1 or 2 people but as MANY people interested in the DNA discussion. I belong to many lists and I see a lot of DNA discussion, I have seen many brickwalls broken down thanks to these discussions. Since the MODERATOR has suggested unsubscribing, after exhibiting an extraordinary amount of narrow-mindedness, I shall follow that suggestion and take myself and my research elsewhere. Not having been a major contributor to the list, it's highly unlikely that I'll be missed, but I felt this had to be said, so I have said it.... Happy hunting to the rest of you, and may those of you who are so dead set against progress and change eventually learn that change is necessary, and adaptability one of man's greatest assets. If you cannot accept change you will be stuck in the old rut... as the saying goes: "If you just keep doing what you've been doing, you'll just keep getting what you've been getting!" -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Sunday, July 22, 2007 6:49 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [HALL] Flaming I would suggest that if you are not happy with the list, then maybe you should unsubscribe.
