One of Moses Lane's daughters, Elizabeth married Henry Miller and lived next door to Moses Lane, her father. One of Elizabeth's brothers was Junius Wilson Lane. He is my gr grandfather. The plot thickens. These people lived in Belle City then. Probably 1880 census. Lynda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Do you agree these are the children of William and Rebecca or do you think they are someone else. William Hall was said to have had a sister with him when he came to Hamilton County. Maybe Mary Wilson is the sister. What was your Grandmother A's maiden name. Lynda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. William ROSS must have been in Halifax Dist., Franklin Co. NC in 1780 (or thereabout). He was apparently expected to report to the NC troops in the American Revolution. Instead he got a substitute named JAMES HALL, who went on to serve in the 2nd NC Reg. under Capts. Evans and then Yarborough--it appears the leader of the Regiment was Col. Robert Mebane. This unit fought in SC (Battle of Stone Ferry) and probably other places in a year's duty in SC. James Hall was discharged from his 12 months' duty at Ashley Hill, SC. He probably then returned to NC. He was in Johnston Co., NC in 1820. I am researching JAMES HALL and have his pension application, which gives this information. I know nothing further about William Ross. JAMES HALL may have been a part of the Hall families of Franklin Co. NC, but not necessarily. His first tour of duty was under an enlistment in either Wake Co. or Johnston Co. NC. This was dated from the year of the total solar eclipse over NC, which occurred in June 1778. James Hall was married to Edea/Edy DELK, daughter of Jacob Delk. Sons of James and Edy Hall were James, John, Green, Riddick Hall. I don't know if this matter of substitution suggests a family tie between the Halls and Ross family of Franklin Co, NC. Betty Pace -- [email protected]

Rose then George and Amanda Apgar then Mary E. Wilson. I think we need to work on this. Riley and Julia A. Rose would be William Riley Rose and Julia Ann (Hall) Rose my gg-grand parents, George and Amanda Apgar (my ggg-grandparents) then Mary E. Wilson with the Hall children. Do you have another e-mail address I can contact you at? Also I have Miller's on my mothers side of the family. Scott Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Wilson in Hamilton county on the 1880 census. I went to ancestry.com and checked the 1880 census and came up with a couple of things. First it lists the Hall children as being her grand children. How could this be? Second the family listed before them are my ggg-grandparents George and Amanda Apgar. Scott Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: mcmanness Surnames: Boone, Hall, McManness, Roark Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hall/13711/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am interested in learning about my HALL family which pre-dates the founding of both Franklin and Gasconade Counties in Missouri. Indeed, the first member of the HALL family for which I have information was Everhard HALL, a veteran of the Revolutionary War who settled in what was later to become Gasconade County, Missouri in 1801. Everhard HALL registered in Gasconade County in 1821 as one of its first lawyers where he practiced in a court presided over by Nathaniel BOONE, son of the now famous Daniel BOONE, the frontiersman of Kentucky fame. Cemetery records show that a Drury Hall was the father of Susannah HALL born 1799 in South Carolina. His son was also Drury HALL, born abt. 1800 in Kentucky. It appears that Drury and Susanna were siblings and their father was Drury or Everhard. Susannah HALL married Michael ROARK before 1820 in Missouri. Their daughter Julia Ann ROARK married John Martin McMANNESS the 26 June 1851 at Boeuff Township, Franklin County Missouri. This HALL family was in South Carolina before 1800 and then moves to Kentucky about 1800 and then moves to Missouri in 1801. This HALL family may be of German heritage. I would like to learn more about this HALL family. Any information may provide a clue or be helpful. Can anyone provide any insight? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
