John of MA is a E3b1 - This haplogroup is believed to have evolved in the Middle East. It expanded into the Mediterranean during the Pleistocene Neolithic expansion. It is currently distributed around the Mediterranean, southern Europe, and in north and east Africa. I think he must be one of those Phoenicians they keep telling us paddled their canoes across the ocean and carving strange symbols in New England rocks. His closest match to anyone is 2 mutations to a 25m tester and no 37m matches. He is a rare bird indeed. Cheers, Nel

It would be great to get better dates for David and Anna's birth and death, as well as their marriage. I'm trying to get my DAR straightened out. 2. Hi All, We are looking for the family of the David W. Hall who married Sarah N. Hicks in Rockbridge Co., VA on 31 Jan 1833 by Allen D. Metcalf, Presbyterian minister. According to the marriage Sarah is the daughter of Joseph Hicks, deceased, and Polly Campden Hicks Childress of Rockbridge Co., VA. I am related to the sister of Joseph Hicks and we are attempting to trace his descendents. We know nothing about any other children of Joseph and Polly [Campden] Hicks [married 27 Aug 1812 in Rockbridge Co., VA by D. Blair]. Polly's father is Benjamin Campden. She married a second husband, Benjamin Childress on 12 April 1824 bond & license date only, no marriage record found. Thank you for your assistance, Barb TN

I think I may have talked with your grandmother by phone after leaving my name at the Historic Museum in Murphy. When I visited Murphy and Franklin the court records note Moses Wilkerson Hall not Manilus. Is there a way to have the tombstone corrected? It bothers me that researchers online can see the tombstone and then move forward thinking their information is correct. My lineage is up through Joshua Rufus Hall, son of Moses. I would love to discuss. Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bapace2 Surnames: Pace, Hall Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hall/13744.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This may really be a long shot. The NC Hall family I am reserching did not know how to spell correctly, plus I suspect middle names may be missing from the Revolutionary War pension of James Hall. Here is what I have (below), but you might also want to check the Hall board through GenForum. Below note the name Beda (Obedience>)--could her name also be Elizabeth? Does anyone have anything on this family of James Hall originally of of Wake & Johnston Co. NC but whose descendants went to Coweta Co. GA and then to Coosa Co. ALA? Revolutionary Pension Request form from 1820 (Johnston Co. NC) identifies JAMES HALL as having been born in 1757. It is difficult to read but he may have enlisted in the Patriot cause in Wake Co. NC or Johnston Co. NC and served several tours in the American militia or line--he served mostly in SC at the Battle of Stone Ferry and around Charleston, SC. Apparently he died in 1821, about a year after the pension was approved. His wife is identified as EDEA/EDY DELK HALL daughter of Jacob Delk. EDEA died in 1848, probably in GA. His children are shown as: Sally b. 1787 Mary b. 1789 Susanna b. 1793 James b. 1795 Edea b. 1797 John b. 1799 Rachel b. 1802 Reddick/Riddick b. 1805 Beda b. 1808 Green b. 1812 1820 Johnston Co. NC census Hall James 1 1 0 0 0 1 - 0 0 0 0 1 M1-10years = 1 M10-15 years = 1 M45 = 1 F45 = 1 In 1853 Reddick/Riddick/Redick and Green Hall filed papers with a court in Georgia (Coweta) about the pension. Apparently they had moved from Johnston Co. NC to Georgia., following perhaps their mother's Delk relatives to Cowetta Co., GA. They said they were the only surviving children of their parents, but that doesn't seem possible to me. I think more survived but stayed in NC or went to other states. In 1851 in the tax digest (first district), these names are listed: Reddick Hall Green Hall Bird Delk (perhaps a relative of the Hall sons' mother Edea Delk) 1870 census Hanover, Coosa, Alabama Hall, Green, 55, NC Concord, 45, GA Iverson, 22, GA Maranda, 19, GA Brazila, 18, (Male) GA ** Telafar, 16 (female) GA Ellen, 10, AL F.A.,8, (female) AL 1860 census Mt Olive P.O., Coosa, Alabama Hall, Green, 42, farmer, NC Concord, 35, GA Malisa N, 13, GA Iverson, 11, GA Maranda, 10, GA Basila, 8, GA ** Elafone, 6, GA 1850 census Division 19, Coweta, Georgia Hall, Green, 32,NC Concord, 23, GA Malissa, 4, GA Iverson, 2, GA Maranda, 1, GA Next door is the family of Riddich Hall, 45, also from NC Riddick/Reddick Hall's family in 1850 Coweta census: Reddick Hall - 45 b. NC Jane - 36(?) b. NC Evaline - 21 b. NC Louisa - 19 b. NC Nancy 17 b. GA Andrew - 15 b. GA William - 13 b. GA -- idiot In the 1860 Coweta census, other children are noted, although these may be the same ones: Lidia - 26 b. GA Jackson - 22 b. GA William - 20 b. GA I think they are careless with ages of children This family may be linked to my ZILPHA HALL(b.1798-2000) who married ALSEY PACE in Johnston Co NC in 1820. In the 1820 Johnston Co. NC census, an Alsey Pace and a James Hall lived close to one another. Zilpha and Alsey Pace named one of their children EDY, perhaps in honor of Zilpha's mother--I think she is the Edy Hall, child of James Hall and wife Edy.
