Vickeye, I have a few notes on those other Hadleys in Mississippi. I found a Perry King in the BLM GLO online land records http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/. He was in Hinds County Mississippi in 1835-1840. That seems a bit late for what you need but maybe he is a son. Hinds County is where the Moses Hadley line was, but Moses is not from our Simon Hadley line, he is from the George Hadley line. Moses' son Thomas B.J. bought and sold land in Jackson, Hinds County, Miss ca 1835-1840. T.B.J. is the Hadley who moved to Houston, Harris County, TX. He and his wife Piety Smith ran a boarding house in Jackson, Hinds County, Miss, before they moved to Texas. Moses Hadley had a brother John who can also be found in the Mississippi land record searches. If you search for Thomas Hadley you will find many entries for Thomas B. Hadley. I found no Joshua's in Mississippi early land records searches. I have a list of Moses Hadley's siblings, and a list of his children. There are no Joshua's on these lists or in any deed records and other records that I have seen on this family. If you tell me again what other surnames you are looking for I will look in my Moses and T.B.J. Hadley notes for them. I deleted your earlier messages and now I can't seem to find them in the Hadley archives. Cindy Smith ----- Original Message ----- From: "emo" <emo@gorilla.net> To: "Vickye White" <vickye@usaonline.net> Vickye, Since you received the document from MS Archives it appears the county you are looking for is Jackson Co., Mississippi Territory, formed in 1812 (before Miss & Alabama became states in 1819) from the old Mobil District, Mississippi Territory. I found all the names you listed except Perry King (many other Kings, just not Perry) in various old transcribed records that cover the period 1700s-1800s for Mississippi Territory and after 1819 are the present states of Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas. There is one entry for Private Joshua Hadley included on a roll for Hinds' Battalion of Calvary, Mississippi Militia during the War of 1812, from a publication of the Mississippi Historical Society. There were listings for latter in the 1800s for Mrs. Hadley "a widow", Dionysia Hadley and Thomas Hadley in Early Pioneers of Alabama that I could not find on the pages the index indicated. Additional entries for the State of Mississippi were for; Ann Hadley and Moses Hadley in his will filed 8-28-1818 in Wilkenson Co., Miss, heirs wife Ann and children (not named). T.B.J. Hadley and Piety, his wife to Robt A. Patrick (all of Hinds Co.,Miss) sold 160 acres in Choctaw District, Miss. on Dec 30, 1839. Hinds Co., Miss Marriages for 1833-35 had a marriage for R. Hadley (female) to F. Catlett. Hope this helps you, Eva _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
I think you may find this Joshua Hadley in early TX I have run into him several times. I sent John Hadley some info on some of his lines that I had picked up working on my lines & it is the same line that Danny Porterfield Hadley belonged to. Some of the were in Montgomery/Walker Co. TX. My Great Aunt Laura Sadler married Duncan Hadley in Limestone Co. TX. Duncan Hadley was the son of Simon & Sarah Davis Hadley. Pat Oates in TX.
