Cindy & List - The descent described by Cindy is essentially correct. Edward Kinnison & Mary Greenaway are my ancestors & so I have had occasion to look at them. >From my Quaker Hobson database, I can say that the Edward Kinnison spoken of was born about 1680, perhaps in PA & died in 1736 in Chester co,PA. He is buried in Goshen MM burial ground where he was a member. His father appears to have been named Edward as well & he had a son Edward also. I believe that all of his children were disowned at Goshen MM, Chester co,PA at one time or another for marriage out of unity, as was Hannah when she married Capt. George Hobson. Capt. George Hobson & wife Hannah Kinnison moved from VA to Orange co,NC in 1756. Hannah mended her fences with Goshen MM that had disowned her years before & was granted a certificate to Cane Creek MM where she became a member in 1757. All of this can be followed in "The Quaker Collection" wherein the Hobson family as well as the Hadley family have a place of honor. It is incorrect to refer to Hannah's son William Hobson Sr that married Sarah Williams as Jonathan William Hobson. The "Jonathan" is a bogus Mormon affectation and cannot be supported in the Quaker records or any of the books published on the Hobson family. George Arnott Hobson (1829-1897) had TWO Hadley wives. There is a Family Group Sheet on his parents Edward Hobson & Mary Rushton in The Quaker Collection at: http://home.sprynet.com/~jrichmon/hbsn0517.htm As shown there, George Arnott Hobson had an older brother who was named Edward Kinnison Hobson (b.1820) for their ancestor. He/they had a cousin ALSO named Edward Kinnison Hobson (1826-1868) who was the son of Isaac Hobson & Ruth Hinshaw. As far as I am aware, except for the Hobson connection noted, there has never been a concerted effort to trace the Kinnison family. Did not find out if the John Kinnison of 1810 had a Betty, but the Hadleys do have an earlier Kinnison connection. If you look at the Hadley database, George Arnot Hobson, married Emmaline (I think she is just Emma on the database)Hadley. George Arnot Hobson is a Kinnison descendant. The Kinnisons were Quaker. I have a descendant chart someone sent me, so I can't say I have proof of this line, but on the chart George is a descendant of Edward Kinnison/Kinneson and Mary Greenway. Their daughter Hannah Kinnison married George Hobson, then Hannah and George Hobson's son Jonathan William Hobson married Sarah Williams in Cane Creek MM, NC. Jonathan and Sarah's son William Hobson married Mary Cashett, and William and Mary's son Edward Hobson married Mary Ruston. Edward and Mary Hobson are the parents of George Arnot Hobson who married Emma Hadley. Edward Kinnison and Mary Greenaway had six children but this chart only includes some of the descendants for two of them. It certainly looks possible that a descendant ended up in Missisppi Territory in 1810. On another note, although Jesse B Hadley reported on the 1880 census that his mother Elizabeth Kenderson/Kinnson was born in Germany, I don't think that is correct. Jesse' sister Cynthia Duffel was living nearby and she reported their mother was born in MS. Daughters usually know more about their mothers than sons know. The 1880 was the first census to ask birthplace of parents. I think Jesse was caught by surprise and either did not know where his mother was born, or Elizabeth is the source of our elusive Indian heritage and he wanted to hide that information from the local census taker. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ==== HADLEY Mailing List ==== Been too busy at Rootsweb sites?
