Hello Hadley researchers, Recently, while going through some old papers, a newspaper clipping of an obituary for a T. J. Hadley was found. There is only one T. J. Hadley on the Hadley database and because of the death date, this individual is a different one than the one found there. Does anyone know which line this T. J. Hadley descends from? Other papers found with his obituary praise his talents in writing poems as he had a book of his poems published. By the age at his death written into the obituary, he died in 1922 in El Reno, Canadian Co., Oklahoma. His obituary reads as follows: T. J. He moved to Kansas in 1878 and was united in marriage to Miss Florence Reeser, at Burr Oak on October 23, 1880. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive. In April, 1892, he came to Canadian county and for three years, 1894, 1895, 1896 he was a teacher at the Rock Island school south of this city. Later he went to Union City where he engaged in the mercantile business which he conducted for 13 years, serving as postmaster for 11 years. Mr. Hadley held a birthright in the Quaker church but had been a member of the M. E. church for the past 40 years. Mr. Hadley was a talented writer and his poems were a source of delight to Canadian county citizens. The deceased is survived by his wife and eight children, Robert Hadley, Ruby Hadley, Theodore Hadley, Mrs. Marguerite Iles, Mrs. Pauline Yost and Carolyn Hadley of El Reno, O. S. Hadley of Denver, Colo. and Mrs. Dorothy Warren of Oklahoma City. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the first M. E. Church conducted by Rev. Buirley.
