In respect to Simon Hadley's deceased sister, Hannah Hadley, the Hadley database is in error. The children there attributed to Hannah Hadley are wrong and likely should be attributed to Hannah Stout, wife of a different William Thompson. As I show in both my Quaker Thompson and Hadley databases, Hannah (Hadley) Thompson's only child was the Rebecca Thompson mentioned in her uncle's will. Family Group Sheets on the two William Thompsons follow. ============================================================= 7 Apr 2001 Family Group Sheet ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Husband: William Thompson #1346 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Born: abt 1765 in: New Castle co, DE Died: 20 Jan 1844 in: Chester co, PA Father: Daniel Thompson #1086 Mother: Elizabeth Chambers #1085 -Genealogical records from New Garden MM,PA -Death recorded at New Garden MM,PA; We weren't having much luck, so I picked up Will Book I, just to browse through the index. As I opened the book, the name Simon Hadley caught my eye. I didn't know there was a Simon Hadley in Pickaway County, but thought he had to be one of the descendants of Simon the Immigrant from Ireland, so I ordered photocopies, all nine pages. When I got home, I checked the Hadley Database. This is Simon, son of John Hadley and Margaret Morton. He had no children, so he left his estate to his siblings Elizabeth Dixon, Emy Dixon, Mary Pinnock, and to nephews John and Samuel Hadley, and nieces Rebecca Thompson, Phebe Hadley, and Sarah Hadley, children of his deceased siblings Samuel Hadley and Hannah (Hadley)Thompson. The Hadley database shows that Simon died in 1817, but as he was adding a codicil to his will in 1818 in Pickaway Ohio, that date must be in error. His executor Isaac Dixon died and Simon named a new executor. It appears that Simon heard of the death of his executor, and sent for his will(which had been in the possession of Isaac), or that someone in New Castle County brought him his will when they travelled to Ohio to inform Simon of the death of his executor. I am puzzled about why he named niece Rebecca Thompson in his will, and the Hadley database shows only Elizabeth and John Thompson as children of Hanna (Hadley) Thompson, and no Rebecca. If more children were born after the original will in 1803, Simon could have added names in 1818 when he changed executors. Cindy
