    2. Cox, Linda
    3. Hi, All, I am adding this information to an earlier thread since we went back to the little cemetery in Indiana where Zerilda and Martha E. Hadley are buried. Sadly this cemetery is in a serious state of decay. We discovered that the Elias Hadley is also buried there. Elias Hadley's stone is badly chipped and we were unable to get much detail. Year of death is 1850 something - the last number is chipped off as is some of but the second letter is appears to be an O and the last is a V. Since Zerilda's stone says "Wife of Elias Hadley" so he must have died after her between 1857 and 1859. Although Zerilda's stone is against a tree and Elias' stone is nearby we are assuming that her grave is probably right next to his. Next To Elias is William C. Hankins, Son of Geo & L Hankins who died in 1856. Next to William is Martha E. Hadley. Closer examination of Martha's stone reveals that she died on Nov 25, 1853 at 3 mos 5 days. Zerilda died Dec. 31, 1857 at 27 yrs. 3 mos and 8 days As I mentioned, Elias's stone is badly chipped. We hope to get back to Indiana to try to work on it and reset Zerilda's stone next month. He was probably born in Nov (it appears to be the 7th) in 185something and died at 37 yrs 1 mo and 21 days. After some searching we found the cemetery listed on Carol's Parke County Cemetery project as the Causey Cemetery (http://members.tripod.com/~Karoann/CAUSEY.html). Although some of the dates are not the same as what we brought out with a great deal of effort the listing is really good. If there is anyone who is not familiar with the project please check out (http://members.tripod.com/~Karoann/letter.html). Their website is a great resource and a real work of love. Linda & List - This Elias Hadley either went undetected in Census of 1850 & 1860 in Indiana or slipped in and out again between the Censuses. My best guess for identification would be Elias Hadley, b.13 Nov 1826, Orange co,NC, son of Jacob Hadley (1786-1878) & Ruth Hadley. I don't have a marriage recorded for him in my Quaker Hadley database. His brother Simon Hadley (1810-1896) & wife Eunice Hobson appear in Census of 1850, Washington twp, Parke co,IN; hh#540; also in Census of 1860, Washington twp, Parke co,IN; hh#1097. So this "guess" is supportable. If the wife Zerilda died also in 1858, he may have gone on to Iowa; many people did so. 3. Can anybody help please? I am trying to trace any Hadleys who went from Dudley, England to Pittsburg from about 1896 onwards. I know that George Edward Hadley travelled in 1900 but was back in Dudley by April 1901 after being deported. George Edward is my ggfather. His sisters Florrie (b 1887 in Dudley) and Hannah (b1883 in Dudley - shown as Anna on the manifest) travelled and I believe settled in Brownsville, Fayette County. I think his other two sisters, Lydia Ann and Mary Jane also went to Pittsburg but I can't find them on any ship's manifest. I also have a Sarah Jane Hadley who travelled with Alf Hartshorne from Dudley to Brownsville in 1898. It was Alf Hartshorne my ggfather was visiting, so I am assuming that Sarah Jane was related to my ggfather. I would also like to know how I can get copies of Naturalisation records? I have a date and place, but don't know where to start. Please can someone help? Thanks Gill Barratt

By the way, I need to correct myself on my original statement. Alfred Hadley was not married to Levi Coffin's sister. Rhoda was probably Levi's cousin. It is thought that Rhoda was the illegitimate daughter of Ann Vestal and Elihu Coffin. The minutes mention a marriage between Ann and Elihu but later Ann and Rhoda are both shown as Vestal. I should not have relied on memory when I said Rhoda was Levi's sister. Levi Coffin's autobiography is available online and in it he also mentions Job Hadley. All messages sent to the email list and the message board are archived, which means that tommorrow or 15 years from now ANYONE can find your posting and contact you. While it may be ok with your address, but do you really want a totaly stranger having your phone number. If you need to send your phone number to someone you can send it to their email address only and it will not be a part of the archives of this list. Just trying to help. Would hate to hear that any of the nice people on this list were having problems. Martha Austin Texas
