    1. [HADLEY-L] Hadley DNA Project
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Hadley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RIh.2ACIB/482 Message Board Post: We are looking for male Hadleys for a new DNA Genealogy project we are launching. Using the markers on the y-chromosome we can determine related lines and identify likely unrelated lines. Because this type of research uses the y-chromosome, which is only passed from father to son, only males with the Hadley surname can participate. No offense intended to other Hadley descendants. I have contacted the Hadley Society to encourage them to also start a DNA project, but haven't heard back yet. Because of the administrative and analysis work, we've decided to focus on Hadley lines that began in the Northeastern US. (But if a qualified Hadley male can't find another project to participate in, he is welcome to join this one). I've put a fair amount of information at my web site, <http://www.hadleyfamily.us> . Just click on the link at the top of the home page. I also included links to sources of other information about DNA Genealogy. With the results of the testing we can determine the likelyhood of common ancestors of the participants. Through this we can determine such things as: - Do the various Hadley lines connect (George, Benjamin, Dennis, Joseph etc. )? - If not, how many unique Hadley lines are there? - If we can get some living Hadleys from England to participate, we might be able to identify common ancestry, which would give us another approach to identify the connection between our US Hadleys and their English ancestry. - If we get some descendants of Simon Hadley to participate, either in a separate project or in this one, is there a connection? If you are a male Hadley, please consider joining this project. If you are a Hadley descendant but not a male Hadley and you can identify a living male Hadley cousin/uncle/brother/father please encourage them to participate. The cost is $99 for the testing kit and analysis. (This is a substantial discount from the normal price because you would be part of the Hadley project). The test is done using scrapings from your mouth; no blood involved. It is all done through the mail. There is also a more detailed test available for $169, but the $99 test is sufficient for our purposes and can be upgraded later without having to submit additional DNA material. (Two of us have ordered the more detailed test to see if there are any benefits). If you are interested, please read the material at the web site and send me a note. I'll respond with a link to the ordering site. I look forward to your participation in this important new project. Thanks! Brad Hadley bhadley@nc.rr.com http://www.hadleyfamily.us

    1. [HADLEY-L] Joseph and Elijah Hadley of Sheriffhales, Shropshire, England.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RIh.2ACIB/481 Message Board Post: HELP!!! I am looking for lost relatives in England! Joseph Hadley was born June 25, 1776 in Sheriffhales, Shropshire. He married Mary Ann Harper. Mary Ann was born June 8, 1794 in Wellington, Shropshire. She died December 10, 1872 in Saint Peter, Derby, Derbyshire. Elijah Hadley was born about 1750 in Sheriffhales, Shropshire. He married an Eleanor and she was born about 1752 in Sheriffhales, Shropshire. My ggg grandfather George Hadley was a son of Joseph and Mary Ann. George and his wife Hannah Brown came to America in 1863 with their 7 children bound for Utah. He left his two sisters Rachel and Louisa Hadley there. I know they married, but I don't think either one had children. Our Hadley line is desperately trying to find a link before Joseph, but the parish records are blackened and unreadable so we are at a dead end. I hope there is someone out there who can HELP! Thank you!!! Mavis Bassett

    1. [HADLEY-L] Pace/Hadley
    2. john pace
    3. Dear Friend, > I am currently researching my PACE family and I have hit a brick wall on the wife of Jesse Pace. Jesse was born abt 1773 in Surry, NC. He was married to a woman named Mary (Polly) last name unknown. Mary was born between 1765-1775. I feel Mary could have been a Hadley since she named one of her children Simon and Simon being a common name in the Hadley family. The name Simon does not appear previously in the Pace family. However, a distant cousin of Jesse Pace's named Simon b1837 was married to Elizabeth Hadley, d/o John Hadley who was the son of Joseph Hadley born 1745. Jesse Pace's mother, Keziah Howell was first married to Thomas Pace of Surry. Her second marriage was to Joseph Davis of Surry, NC. I have seen connections of the Davis family of Surry to the Hadley family of Surry. I hope this is not too confusing to you. My question is this: Is there a Mary Hadley born 1765-1775 in probably Surry, NC that could be the wife of my Jesse? Jesse and his wife migrated from Su! rry to Knox Co, KY about 1801, first appearing on the Knox Co tax list in that year. > Thank you, > John Pace
