WD doesn't necessarily mean widow. I have one line, where wife listed WD and husband had remarried with new wife and children. I never thought of the asylum or hospitals. the 1880 census shows America living with Callaway Haddix her husband. I do have a marriage record for them and I know James Callaway Haddix died about 1880. Kentucky is not an easy place to confirm research, but I think I have done every family in Breathitt Co. KY.
