He was born in 1867 to Elizabeth Oaks Haddix and reportedly William A. Haddix. However, William A. Haddix was supposed to be dead at the time, having passed away in 1864 in Georgia during the Civil War. Were reports of his death "greatly exaggerated" as they say?
