My dad is the parents of the late Elizabeth Alice Hoy Haddix and John Franklin Haddix from Mannington, West Virginia. I don't know a whole lot about the older generation in my family except both grandparents, mammaw and pappap's families came from somewhere in Pennsylvania in the 1800s and ended in Mannington. If you would like further information, I will be happy to answer any questions you have, although my late mammaw was never married before. Good luck in your search.

Surnames: HADDIX/MCCANNON/BAKER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AIh.2ACIB/94 Message Board Post: I'm searching for information on Hannah Haddix's daughter Mary McCannon. Mary married David Baker, my great great grandfather in Rowan County NC in 1812. They left Rowan County and went somewhere??? My first thought they may have gone with Mary's Mother Hannah Haddix McCannon Estep, and her sister Nancy McCannon Jones to Indiana. I can't find any record of David and Mary in IN. and I found on familysearch.org a record that Mary died in Cabell County WVA in 1829. David and Mary had at least 2 children according to his will: Wiley and Thomas Jefferson Baker. David does return to Rowan County,NC and marries Rebecca Jones, relative to Nancy McCannon husband, Horatio Jones, and her father Solomon Jones was good friends with Hannah Haddix 2nd husband Thomas Estep. Should you have any information to help prove Mary's migration paths or information on Wiley (I have a lot of information on Thomas the other son) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Linda Swearingen Sanders

It just seems weird. As far as I know, Jonathan and Elizabeth had no children of their own. Jonathan was in his 50's by the time he married Elizabeth, and I've seen a tree which says that Elizabeth was born ~1820, so she would have been in her mid-40's when they married. I guess it's possible, but as far as I know at this point they had none. At this point, I'm really not interested in the details of the Haddix's except for Elizabeth and then her son Enoch's descendents. I've got enough keeping my own family tree straight. Any details you have on Enoch would be appreciated. All I have for him are marriage and death dates (and the death is unconfirmed). > > Glenn > > >

Minear founded St. George, Tucker County WVa and the family figures largely in the history of Tucker and Barbour counties. As of 1948, there were over 4,000 Minear descendants in this book.
