    1. [HACKBARTH] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [HACKBARTH] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

Author: rebholzgary Surnames: Hackbarth Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hackbarth/40.48/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Bogislaf Carl Friedrich Hackbart was born 23 Feb 1814 in Pemplow, Kreis Cammin, Pommerania to Carl Friedrich Hackbart and "Louise" Dorothea Louise Doepke ... He died 18 Nov 1897 in Town of Granville, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. His death notices found in the local German newspapers may help round out a research collection; these repeated three times. There are about 400 Hackbarth entries found in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). Author: rebholzgary Surnames: Hackbarth Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hackbarth/40.47/mb.ashx Message Board Post: "... Karl Ludwig Hackbarth born 15 Sep 1819 in Rottnow, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommerania. He married Louise Gottliebe Solomon 1 Oct 1847 in Town of Granville, Wis. He died 1 Feb 1908 in Town of Granville, Wis ..." Carl Ludwig must've been a well-known guy in his community; he generated about 10-12 clippings (many repeats) in multiple German language papers at the time of his death: death notices, obit., Danksagung, death anniversary notices, the whole works. Most of them spell his name as Carl L. or Carl Ludwig, but a solo Karl AND a solo Ludwig entry show up too. It's possible there was a wedding anniversary clipping in one of the Sunday editions? There were also family death notices and Danksagung for Louise Gottliebe Hackbarth in 1898. "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
