    1. [HAAS-L] RE: Edward HAAS & Sarah S(C)HERER
    2. Hello, Listers, I am looking for the origins and parents of my 2g-gparents, the above Edward HAAS (b. abt. 1815 in PA -- per several US Censuses; parents also born PA; d. 1880s in Easton, Northampton co., PA) and his wife Sarah S(C)HERER (b. abt. 1815 in PA -- per several US Censuses; parents also born PA; died after 1880 in Easton, Northampton co., PA). They first show up in the 1850 US census in Easton. He was a shoemaker/cordwainer. They had the following children: 1) Tilghman Francis HAAS/HASS, (my g-gfather) b. 1834 (who changed the spelling to HAWS and died in Knoxville, Knox co., TN in 1916. Married (1) Frances "Fanny" SCHOONMAKER and (2) Amelia SMITH SEAMANS (my g-gmother). 2)Mary Ann HAAS/HASS, born 1837; drowned in Lehigh River, 1852; 3) Maria Louisa HAAS/HASS, born 1840; married 1859 in Easton, Northampton co., PA, Edward WERTLEY ( B. ABT. 1835, Port Carbon, Schuylkill co., PA; died in Civil War.) 4) Albert A. HAAS/HASS, born 1842; was Baptist missionary to Burma; married to UNKNOWN; died 1877 in Knoxville, Knox co., TN; 5) Emma HAAS/HASS, born 1845; nothing more known of her; 6) Camilla Elmira, born 1847, died 1849; 7) Sabina Amelia, born 1850, died 1851. Does anyone have any information on this family? They have been my "brick wall" for 35 years. I know that Edward may have been my 2g-gfather's middle name. I have not found any "Edward Haas/Hass/Hasse" or "___ Edward", etc. baptized or married in Northampton or Lehigh counties in his time frame and have no idea where I might look farther afield. The names of their sons don't give me much of a clue, either. A great big thanks to anyone who might help!!
