Hi, List, My earliest known Haas ancestor is Heinrich Jacob Friedrich Haas who emigrated from Wuerttemberg, Germany in 1851, lived in Pennsylvania for a few years, and then settled in Madison county, Indiana in about 1855. He had at least one sister named Dorothea Haas, who emigrated in about 1858, and married J. Peter Urick after coming to Indiana. Dorothea's death record states that her father's name was Phillip Haas, but no verification of this has been found yet in U.S. records.
