I don't know if his parents & sister came with him or not. He would have been about 16. I have found a John HAAS age 20 in the 1920 Newark, Essex Co, NJ census, but that John's birthday is listed as being in Sept 1879 (not Jan 1897), and he is married to an Elizabeth (not an Emma), with two children both born in NJ in 1897 & 1899 (John & Emma supposedly married in 1900, had their first child in 1902). This is the only John HAAS I found in NJ at this age for 1900. There is a strong possibility that this is all a coincidence (that the information is just similar to my John HAAS), and my John was actually in New York City at this time. It is also possible that the John found in 1900 is my John, and that he was married prior to marring Emma MESSNER (I need to find John HAAS & Emma MESSNER's marriage record for 1900 (supposedly in Newark, NJ) and hope that no one lied about being married prior to this marriage. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Kris Goszka 'Warsaw, VA
