I am VERY new to all of this, in fact I'm spinning in circles not sure where to start........ My grandfather was Bernard Ward Haas (1900-1971) Pittsburgh, PA, married to Frances Mary Wood (1903-1988). My ggrandfather, Bernard Haas (1857-1937) married Mary Ann Ward (1867-1941). They met at "The Point" where there were a lot of German and Irish immigrants living, in Pittsburgh. Here's where it gets confusing - there are Wards (2 sets, 1 Ward married another, supposedly not related - Mary Ann's parents), Mary Ann's sister, Margaret Ward, has married a John Scherer. I know of a George Michael Haas (1799-1867) and his wife Mary Susanna (1817-1880). Not sure if the are my gggrandparents, dates I have for them don't quite add up. Family rumors are that the Haas family came from Baden, I don't know how to substantiate that. Being in Florida it is difficult to find out info, seems like most information I need to get started is in Pittsburgh. About 19 years ago, someone called our house, doing family research on the Haas family. Sure would like to find out who it was! Other Haas names - Anna Leona Haas (1887-1838), married to Woistman. Marie Susanna Haas (died of influenza 1918) married to McFadden, and Sarah Elizabeth Haas (died in 1918, influenza). These women would be my great aunts. Do any of these names sound familiar to someone? Any information would be greatly appreciated, perhaps I have some info someone could use too. Maureen
