    1. [HAAS-L] Susanna Haas and Peter Bortz
    2. borts
    3. Hello to anyone working on the above family. I am looking for a Lydia Haas who married Peter Bortz. Lydia's parents were Phillip and Susanna Haas. The info that I have is from my source is the following; Lydia (Haas) Bortz 10 June 1820 - 7 April 1857 (36-9- 27) % of Phillip and Susanna Haas Buried St. Paul's Union Church Cemetery, Trexeltown, Upper Muncungie Twp., Lehigh County, Penn. The only info I have on Peter is that he was born to Jacob and Susanna Guth Bortz on 16 November, 1816. I would love to find out more info on this line. Peter was my husband's 3rd great uncle. Thanks Nora borts@gte.net

    3. We're growing every day !! We have now hit 90 members. Please don't let the list whither away for lack of posts. If you already posted your lines over and over then how about a little chit-chat about your ancestors? Or just some simple chit-chat? Who you are, how long you've been researching your Haas line? You don't have to post a lot of personal information (since all of the messages get put in the archives) but perhaps just something about your brick walls? Problems with your research that perhaps others can help you with? Thanks! 2. Hi, I have a correction to make: I had listed the husband for Lutgard HEPTIG as being m. to Franz Josef HEPTIG, (it was Franz Josef HAAS that was b. 26 Apr 1816, Sendelbach, Baden, Germany). It's been just short of a year now since I've started my ancestral quest; I have one wonderful and gregarious great-grandfather who has never shared his family history with his grandchildren; Frank HEPTIG (b. 1869, Baden, Germany). My great-grandfather had a brother "Willie" William HEPTIG, b. abt. 1859, possibly in Tiergarten, Baden, Germany; "Uncle Willie" I have found on the New York State 1920 Census as living in Brooklyn, NY- at 305 Power Street, with his two children: Frederick age 34, Rose age 31, & a niece- Mary IMMEL, age 14. Frank HEPTIG m. Fredericka Dorothy STAAB ca. 1890-92, Brooklyn, NY. They had 6 children: Francis (Frank) -1893, Anna -1896, Joseph - 1897, Kathryn Marie (my grandmother) - 1901, Lorrotte (Loretta) - 1908, and Anthony abt. 1910 (died during infancy). Kathryn Marie HEPTIG m. Arthur REINBOLT in 1924. Now getting to the HAAS surname; During my research I discovered some HEPTIGs that lived in Tiergarten, Baden. They were Moritz HEPTIG & his daughter Lutgard HEPTIG(b. 1842, Baden), Lutgard m. Franz Josef HAAS on 23 Jan 1865, Tiergarten, Baden. Franz HEPTIG was b. 26 Apr 1816, Sendelbach, Baden, Germany & was a Grape farmer by occupation. They had 5 children of which all sadly passed away during infancy. Franz Josef HEPTIG d. on 10 Jul 1874, Tiergarten. I would love to find some type of connection between these folks and my great-uncle & great-grandfather. Any assistance would be most appreciated. 2. Linda Haas Davenport
    3. Most of us genealogists subscribe to several e-mail lists in our search for our family surnames and we spend hours each day wading thru hundreds of e-mails searching for one that pertains to our family. Yet, even with all the e-mails we get we can't possibly subscribe to every list that might, just might turn up one of our family names. RootsWeb has come to our rescue. They have set up a service that allows you to specify what surname(s) you are interested in and then they will forward to your mail box a copy of every message from any RootsWeb list, GenConnect post or Surname Post that contains your specified surname. This service is called PLM. I have been using it for the past 3 months while the bugs got ironed out and it's really great. You can read all about it here: (CEO's Announcement) ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/review/19991110.txt It's one of the few things at RootsWeb that is not free. It costs $24.00 a year - but that's a small price to pay. If you are interested here is the link that will allow you to sign up and to answer all your questions. http://pml.rootsweb.com/ Enjoy!! 2. Greetings, I am researching the Haas family of Hunterdon County, NJ. Many of them are descendants of John Haas (1757-1838) who was a veteran of the Revolution. John lived in Tewksbury TWP, Hunterdon County. I believe he is a son of Johannes Haas and Maria Boice and he was probably born in Somerset Co., NJ. Johannes was probably born in Germany or Switzerland and I'm trying to find out more about him. I'd love to hear from anyone else researching this line. Regards, Rick Novak

    3. Does anyone have any information on Phillip and Susanna Haas? They were probably from around Southampton and Lehigh Counties in Pennsylvania. The only info I have on them is that their daughter Lydia was born 10 June 1820 and died 7 April, 1857. She was buried in the St. Paul's Union Church Cemetery, Trexlertown, Upper Macungie Twp., Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Lydia married Peter Bortz who was the son of Jacob and Susanna Bortz. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Nora borts@gte.net
