Hi, Bryan! May be that you don't have sufficient memory to download or could be that it is just slow. Try downloading and waiting for several minutes and then check it to see if there was anything downloaded. Or could be one or the other sender or receiver is sent in html and receiver is set for text only or vis a vis. Other wise I don't have any idea. Of course I am not an expert in this business either. While I have been aware of the "Bernese Anabaptist" origins of my SHANK ancestors who first arrived in Lancaster Co., PA in 1717 after nearly 50 years of exile in the Pfalz region of present-day Germany, I have only this week come across the names and dates for the Maternal line of my Paternal grandmother. I believe THESE were also Bernese Mennonites who came in a mid-19th century emigration from Canton Berne and ALSACE ( present day Bas- Rhin France) after they lost their exemptions from military service. Here are the names and dates: does anyone have them in his/her database? Can you offer insights into my belief that they were also formerly Bernese Anabaptists? My grandmother ( Magdalene Grant Shank) was born in 1898 in Hancock Co., OH. She was the daughter of FRANCIS "Frank" GRANT b. 1866 in OH and LENA BARNHART b. 1865 in PA. Lena's parents were JOHN BARNHART b. in "Germany" in 1840, d. in Hancock OH on 24 Feb 1898 and MADELEIN or LENA WALTER b. 16 November 1842 in Wintzenbach, Alsace, France, d. 25 Apr 1917 in Columbus, OH. Lena Walter's parents were ANDREAS WALTER b. 13 Feb 1805 in Wintzenbach, d. Oct., 1861 in Hancock Co., OH and BARBE HAAS b. 21 March/May 1811 in Wintzenbach, died 9 Oct 1890 in Hancock, OH. Andreas Walter's parents were JOHANNES MICHEL WALTER b. 1765 in Wintzenbach d. 9 Dec 1851 in Wintzenbach and MARGAARETHE MUELLER b. 1771 Wintz. d. 15 Nov 1840 Wintzenbach. There are records of a Bernese Swiss family by the name of WALTI ( umlaut over a) in Alsace. Are these my Walter's? Does anyone researching BARNHART, HAAS or MUELLER have any of these people in his/her database? Thank you in advance for your help in my attempt to finsih my mother's work: she died March 3rd this year during open heart surgery. Margaret Shank ( Arvada, CO)
Posted on: HAAS Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/h/a/HAAS/queries?read=23 Surname: Rosendahl, De Haas, Bouman, Roelands, Trum ------------------------- I am looking for information on my family. They all originate from the Netherlands except for Rosendahl who may have orignated from Germany (late 1800's). I have several conflicting stories relating to the origin. The Trum family line is quite straight forward, however the rest is proving very difficult to find. The Trum and De Haas lines originate from 's-Hertogenbosch in Netherlands.

I have the names of some of their children but don't know what time frame your Jacob/Matilda Haas is in. Willing to share info. I have if this would be helpful to you.
I just started looking for by past family. I recently contacted my Aunt who has informed me that she has a copy of my genealogy back to Germany. As soon as I get it I will let you know the findings. My fathers name is Lyle Haas. His father was Helmut Samuel Haas. That's all I know so far. Darrell A. Hi, I hope I can help you with this information that is in my family. My gggrandparents were as follows: Israel Mayberry married to Catherine Haas of Hampshire County, Virginia (now WV) on March 27, 1827. Her father and mother was named Peter and Mary Haas, they lived in Hampshire Co., Va. My ggrandpa Israel was living in the household of John & Sarah Cooper and not far away his children (I assume) were living in the household of their (again I assume since they are Mayberry's and their mother assumed to be Catherine and the daughter of Peter and Mary). The children were named as follows Mary age 21, Thomas age 19, Sarah age 13 and this was on the 1850 Census of Hampshire County, Va. I believe these Haas' came from the Philadelphia, Pa. area, where there was several families of Haas' in that area. Apparently Catherine Haas had passed away prior to the 1850 Census causing the rest of the family to be split up in various friends and family. If you have any information about Catherine Haas Mayberry please let me know.
