Sharon, The Champion name in my family goes back to VA 1600's to Edward Champion and his daughter Phillis who married Elias Fort. Their gt gt granddaughter Sarah Isabella Fort married Jeptha Decatur Gwin/Guinn. I do not find Champion used as a first name in any family records, however I do not have middle names for many of the ancestors. As far as I know none of my Guinn/Gwin ancestors migrated to TN. That doesn't mean it didn't happen. Also, Champion family branches moved from VA to NC in 1700's. Could be you have a connection with one of the Champion families by way of another Gwin family. Seemed to be several unrelated Gwinn's in that area at that time. Will keep my eye open for Champ Gwin. Franki
