Sharon, I have heard of Champ Gwin, but as far as I know he does not connect to my Gwin Family. Do be careful because this person comes across as someone who know all about the Gwin Family and she will take your evidence and try to turn it upside down and make you think you are wrong. Use your evidence and keep looking for more, but don't let someone confuse you. Thanks for the heads up. I'm looking for information on my gg grandfather, Horatio Jones Gwin. He was born 1809 in PA. He married Lucinda Newcomb in Knox County, OH. She died in 1850 in IN. He died 1881 in CA. They had 4 children: Mary, Gaven, Thomas & Austin (my g grandfather). I have nothing about Mary or Gaven after the 1850 census. Thomas went to CA with Horatio and Austin was raised by his Uncle Leonard Newcomb. I believe that John & Catherine Gwin were Horatio's parents, but I have no proof. Any of this sound familiar? Your post reminds me that there's another Horatio Gwin, born about the same time and place, but never left the east coast. Several people have taken the 1880 census that both are in to be the same man. Which would mean that in 1880 he was in the CA census as a widower with no family and some how made it to the east coast (can't remember the exact state) and suddenly had a wife and 8 children. I've tried to tell people that this is not the same Horatio Gwin, but most refuse to separate the two, several trees are messed up.
